Accident right outside my house moments before the rain poured

Captured on my iPhone 5S - I must admit I was impressed by the low light capability - it was nearly dark because of the storm

PS - no one was hurt, but it could have been serious - school bus with 30 kids ploughs into five cars with waiting parents.

Was there anyone in that van when it happened ?
Would have been a scary ride going backwards up a pole.

Only a true photographer at heart could place emphasis on the "low light capability" at a time like that! It's like watching an open heart surgery when an artery clamp comes off and reporting that the Ricoh WG-M1 is not only shock proof, waterproof, cold proof and dust proof, it can take a direct transfusion and never miss a beat!

On the more serious side, it was most fortunate that there were no injuries...or worse!

Regards!

That's a really bad accident, I'm glad no one was hurt. Amazing really.
OK, rant on a tangent:
As a cyclist, I have learnt not to ride past schools during morning drop off or after school - I go the long way around. With 30+ years on the bike, I rate them as the single most dangerous (on road) place to cycle, or be a pedestrian for that matter. Mostly as everyone is in a rush, generally driving large SUVs and only cares about the safety of their own darling children. It's pretty sad. I saw the aftermath of a kid on bike getting backed over by an SUV in front of a school only last month. The irony is that kids get dropped off in the car because their parents think walking, cycling and catching the bus is unsafe. By not cycling or walking, kids become 17 year old drivers with no road experience until they get behind the wheel for the first time. No wonder they go and write themselves off so often.

A usable quality photo from an Iphone, made widely available via Facebook, then someone else makes a YouTube video - all in short order after an event happened. Probably 23 other photos and videos of the event also now exist and are being shared online.

Such is life on the grid.

LOL

Actually, being reported on national news is no guarantee it actually happened

But in this case, yeah ... and they didn't clear the scene and restore power until 11:30pm. Yesterday morning a TV crew was wanting to interview us, but we didn't really see it happen. And they wanted to know if we knew the name of the the parent and two kids stuck in that vehicle up the pole.

That would have been a harrowing experience. Our neighbour's dog Jack barked for hours.

Wow. I guess it's a perfect example of, "you can't make this s*** up."
