New Sony A7II and A9 with IBIS

- Weight 599g (including battery and memory)
- Vertical position grip VG-C2EM (sold separately)
- Media Memory Stick PRO Duo / PRO-HG Duo / XC-HG Duo, SD / SDHC / SDXC (UHS-I compatible)

Compared to the current A7 the A7II thicker (due the different grip). Wights 100 gram more. The camera should be announced within the next days already!

Low ISO, nice. TBH while I like having the higher ISO options I generally shoot as low as I can.

Me too. I've had good tests at ISO 6400 with my K-r but I'd rather not use anything over 800 if I can help it.

About the A7II, I wasn't expecting IBIS in the A7 line. Wow is all I can say. I think a Leica A7II with some Leica R lenses - now stabilized - will be a killer setup and I might be having lots of dreams about that.

My problem is I have too much into the Pentax system to switch, so I dream about low ISO and wide dynamic range shots that are super sharp.

Interesting that it took Sony so long to implement IBIS. The NEX series never had it.

According to the rumour, the physical dimensions of A7II (126.9 x 95.7 x 59.7mm) indicate width and height are almost identical to the current A7 (127 x 94 x 48 mm). Depth is the big difference - 12mm. I wonder what requires that extra depth?

What the A7II seems to indicate is that adding IBIS to a FF doesn't need to have much of an impact on the dimensions of a camera. To me this is an interesting development. Since E-mount isn't much different than K-mount in size, if Sony can do FF IBIS in E-mount - in a very compact mirrorless body to boot - Pentax should have little trouble offering SR in any upcoming FF of theirs, especially if a Pentax FF retains a conventional DSLR body design, with it's [relatively] cavernous interior.

Note that you would also get a stabilized viewfinder with that IBIS! Sony got the the general shooter down, Samsung got the speed, Pana-Olympus the size and Fuji the retro. The mirrorless market is looking nicely branched out now!

Why are you anti-IBIS? Also, I'm sure there's a way to turn it off, so no need to wait for another model unless this one doesn't suit you for other reasons, including price...

It adds weight and size.

Plus there is the possibility of blurring due to over-corrective action. Pentax recommends turning off IBIS when camera mounted on tripod.
