Unlikely anyone will use an OS lens and IBIS together - unless by mistake.
See the SONY animation for explanation how the 5-axis SteadyShot works.

I din't understand : for yawn and pitch compensation, a translation of the sensor is needed. Not a yawn and picth of the sensor. For me it is marketing only.

Regardless of the specifics, Sony have produced a sensor stabilised FF weather resistant camera with inherent lens compatibility with legacy lenses from multiple vendors via cheap adapters.

That's pretty much Pentax's pitch from years gone by, now offered by someone else.

Hello Pentax? Where are you?

I have an aversion to Sony products (several bad experiences with Sony products in the past), as compelling as they may become and as irrational as it might be, I just can't see me buying Sony.

Pentax have been using sony sensors for years, but I know where you are coming from.

I've had limited experience with Sony cameras, other than a Sony Action Cam HDR-AS15 model that I'm now selling for a GoPro Hero 4 Silver. The image quality was quite average on the Action Cam but they did release a very powerful firmware upgrade at a much later date. This aspect seems to be uncommon with Sony, and the main point of concern for most buyers is that there always seems to be something better quite close around the corner with Sony, and they don't seem to fold new features back to older models. Fuji is apparently quite super at doing this, so you feel like they've got your back.

An example would be (Assuming the hardware is actually capable of this) the A5100 model gets the newer XAVC-S video format, but the A6000 doesn't. It reads as if Sony are deliverately holding back on rolling this back out because an A7000 is rumoured to be in production/to be released soon. No idea if that's true, but it's an example.

I haven't heard of any major problems or faults with the Sony gear though recently? Just that they've gone crazy developing stuff all over the bloody place!

To me it boils down to personal preferences... no matter how much the company (Ricoh or Sony) do, there is always someone who prefers one way or the other. If Sony gives you what you want and like, sure stick to it. I think Ricoh/Pentax is doing okay since they already have the competitive advanced APS-C and 645 cameras out, it would be time to focus on FF (mirror or san mirror); it does not have to be identical to Sony's track.

That's fine, except where Sony are doing it right, you might want to take notice of those parts. Like stabilisation in video mode that actually works. Now I haven't seen any info on this, but I'm willing to go out on a limb and suggest that it's likely to give better results than the Ricoh/Pentax 'Movie SR' mode does.

Personally for me I think a hybrid Optical/EVF viewfinder is worth a look. I like what FF can offer, but I don't necessarily need it. A viewfinder that worked in video mode would be appealing to me.

By the way, I saw this:

Sure, if it works as expected and better than any of the technologies currently available, many of us (not only Pentax users) will be interested. Sony however have a tendency to get things out with priority of being the first only.

You'd almost be afraid to buy something. the next day after your compromised buy, they will announce what you wanted in the first place!

Exactly. For me the A6000 is my likely target, although no doubt they'll eventually release an APS-C sensor stabilised item.

Just a thought,.. but about the only film maker who would hate the Pentax or Sony Sensor Shift technology,.... Would be J.J. Abrams!

Cos it would fix all those moments when he's whacking the back of the camera to get his desired shaky cam effect!

2 things: Michael Bay is even more extreme (JJ didn't direct Cloverfield :P ). And it would still be useful for them, I guess. With these small, lightweight cameras you'd still get some camera shake, just not the extremely ugly jittering that plagues lots of shorts shot on Canikon cameras.
