This is about a feature Pentax used to have, have taken away for reasons that make most of us go "wtf? Really?!" and is now being implemented by Sony. I do see quite some connection to Pentax there...

They didn't care when the OM-D EM-1 was launched with that feature either... of course now a more video oriented camera has that feature... and how will heads explode when the A7S gets the upgrade?

The other way round: I didn't catch if the A7II is going to have the "silent shutter mode" of the A7s. I still find it spooky to take pictures in complete and utter silence.

Actually, i was talking to a friend yesterday, where we were like:
Ok probably an A7s II is on the way for 1000$ more than the A7II, but to what extent might the A7 II already be enough?
It has xavs c, 50mb/s. It probably is going to miss some features (for video such as ultra-sensitivity) but to what extent will those features be worth 1000$?
Say 1300 in a couple of months for the A7 II. And 4k. pff, by the time 4k is really standard, we'll want the A7s xxxx.

I think he was only expressing his dissapointment in pentax SR since they had a working mechanical SR in movie mode as one of the first manufacturers.
I don't think he argued the decision to move it.

Well, as I started it, I can tell you, it was meant to be about Pentax having turned SR off in Video, and the users wanting it back.
Sony was simply being used as the way to highlight that Pentax has made a mistake about the way it no longer implements this technology in Video,... which is why I started the thread in the Video part of the forum.

But it seems you've Steadied the fists us Video users were shaking,... all the way out of the Video forum,.... which kinda reflects the way all the 'You Can Only Shoot Stills On A DSLR or MILC' fuddy duddys think.
