Old Cameras You Totally Covet...

There's two on my list. The first of course is a black Asahi SPII. I have the Honeywell version and I would not part with it for love or money but the Asahi one is admittedly the holy grail of Spotties for me. The second is the Exakta Varex IIA. I just love it and want one to play with so badly but they're kind of expensive if they are in decent shape so for now it's just a pipe dream. You? I'm just curious. This is a page with the Exaktas and it shows most of them. I think they're pretty darned gorgeous, most of them. Apparently I'm not the only one though, sigh...

All kidding aside,
Some of those Exactas are gorgeous.
I'm currently coveting a Rolleiflex 2.8, but way out of my budget

That was probably the cleanest and nicest Spotmatic that I've ever seen. I'd guess that it had never been used.

The link is for a Bronica EC. Similar, but different from the Bronica C.

I have a Bronica S2, which is basically the same as the C, but with changeable backs and 1/1000s top speed.
They are beautiful cameras, and the Nikkor-P 75/2.8 is superb.

Nikon S2.
A real photographer's tool. Fast and responsive with no extra BS.
I have taken more really good photos with the S2 then any other camera I have ever owned and that's over a period of more than 50 years.
I'm still waiting for a digital S2.

A Leica M3. My holy grail would be to own an old wet process camera used by William Henry Jackson. He probably led one of the most productive and interesting lives of any photographer who ever walked the planet. Born in 1843, learned to paint from his mother. Civil War veteran. Bullwhacker on the Oregon trail and finally photographer. Lived to be 99 years old. His photographs helped influence Congress to make the Yellowstone area the worlds first national park.

Change it to the SP (preferably titanium shutter), and that's my coveted camera.
