Jmac , could take note ...

Although is it manual focus ? Think he wants an autofocus.

you would like the GF 50 f3.5 (but it is a 40 in 35mm terms or a 27 in apsc terms)

you know, the entire equivalency conversation gets really intense on the Fuji boards and I've never understood why...

That's so 10 years ago on this board. So may have APS-c, FF, 1:2.3 (Q) and 645, the BSers who haven't got a clue and only read the numbers get shot down real quick. As I said 10 years ago when this was raging here, there's nothing you need to know about equivalence you can't figure out by looking through the viewfinder.

exactly!

I've never understood why I need to say what the focal and then what the equivalent focal length is in another format...

it's a 50mm lens... period...

I don't spend much time on the fuji boards it never hooked me the way this place did, hence i keep returning here despite owning only a few old taks and even less k mount lenses (and 1 ME super someone gave me)

pretty much but i can see hating a 50 on one sensor size and loving it on another , it was never my favouite on 35mm but i love it on medium format (any medium format film or digital) and on apsc it is a handy cheap portrait lens

true but the aov varies due to the crop so what you hate in a 50 on one format you may love on another (I love the GF50, but I also loved my Bronica ETR with it's 50 ... always been a wide normal to wide angle guy for the most part

I can relate with Eddie ... I visited the Fuji boards and was not enthralled about it all ... Still like PF and need to shoot the K-1 a bit more.

Salut PBF,

Have you done any close focus work and/or wide open work with your 50/1.2 ? ... any initial impressions, 'cause I am quite curious.

35 APS-c and 50 FF are the focal lengths that show how deceiving equivalence can be. They really are different perspectives.
