The Fuji X20/30's may have a smaller sensor than the other X series cameras but they sure pack a punch ... sad to see no new replacement as this is my go-to travel camera

I managed to snatch a really good 2nd hand deal for a 35/1.4 from a lady, who sadly, in my opinion, after a short interaction, thought she would be more satisfied with a Sony a9. Just 350 euro, originally bought in September 2019 and with 20 more months remaining warranty.

I am very happy I didn't go for the f2 variants. It's light and fits the x-t20 just fine. I was afraid it was going to be too much for that body. Also, AF is nowhere near as noisy as I thought

That's a good price. I paid 300 for mine but with no box, hood or warranty. I've had it for a few years now and it's an amazing lens. I considered the f/2 version which was very new at the time but I'm glad I didn't choose it (though there were very few on the used market at that time) as the extra stop makes a big difference in low light and shallow DoF photos. Focus isn't the fastest and it's not silent but I completely forget about any minor flaws when I see the results it's capable of.

Here are a couple of mine from a market in Edinburgh a few weeks back.

Love the garlic

The extra stop does make a difference. It's the fastest lens I've ever had and shooting in bars and city nights has never been so easy

Sometimes people say "Well, if you don't shoot at nights, then you don't need Lens A, therefore go for Lens B, etc." but this way you will never be exposed and encouraged to explore lowlight photography

Many people argue that in the film days you couldn't go above ISO 3200 and now you can go much higher therefore there's no reason to ever have a lens faster than f/4. It's an argument that makes no sense as lower ISO is always better and faster lenses are needed to reduce depth of field and allow faster, more accurate focusing. Fast is good and the faster the better (within size, weight and cost limitations of course).

Here's another from the 35mm f/1.4

Like it...lonely horse at a carnival ride...nicely done. Like the subject isolation and effective bokeh background.

Well done silhouette photography...like the lighting, shadows, composition. B+W enhances this photo, IMO.

Appealing shot.
