I looked at the 35/2 as well but it's much newer so there were no used copies around. I got a good deal on the 35/1.4 (€300) and have been extremely happy with it. Now that I've seen what can be done with a lens that's super sharp at f/1.4 I'm addicted to it, both the depth of field and low light possibilities.

I had the old version of the Sigma and AF was unpredictable and it wasn't sharp wide open, the Fuji is completely different.

I look forward to seeing more of your results.
I actually was able to find my 35/2 used on ebay...complete with box and all paperwork accessories for about $50 less than new. I got kinda lucky as any of the F2 lenses are kind of hard to come by used, but I wanted the silver version which is ever harder to find.

Bokeh and flare with a Vivitar 28-90mm f/2.8-3.5 Series 1. I've found another advantage of mirrorless cameras over DSLRs - old lenses with slow apertures can be used as normal!

Here are a few B&Ws from out and about in Madrid. All shot with the 35mm f/1.4.

Some nice street scenes there.

Quick walk around tonight, and from yesterday at a local park.

Just a mindplay, a simple crop here and there on the first pic could also result to fantastic photos, very good capture Clarkey!

Thank you! Where would you crop? When I saw the diagonal line/square, I made that the focus - open to suggestions, though.

I rented the 50-140 F/2.8 for an event and got it for a few extra days so I could shoot some ducks with it. I also rented the 1.4 TC.

This shot of my cat taken at 1/10th of a second at 140mm! The OIS works very well.

Very nice lens. Autofocus is very fast and accurate in good light but gets noticeably worse in overcast light or early evening light. The TC works very well and doesn't have a huge impact on image quality although it is noticeable, especially in the edges and corners. And it does make AF performance a bit worse, more so in lower light than in good light.

After a few days of shooting with it at the pond, I've got about 70% of shots in the perfectly-in-focus to not-noticeably-out-of-focus range. I've been using the X-Pro 2 with the newest firmware.

The lens was great for the event I rented it for. If I did that sort of event more often I'd buy one of these. For the pond, I want something longer. So I'm going to rent the 100-400 later this summer.

Fuji 50-230....As sharp as my F*300 was, but does not quite have the Pentax "Pixie" dust. But for a $200 lens vs. $1,000 I can't complain too much.....

Hey all - I have a question. I have an opportunity to purchase a display model X-T1 with the 18-55 lens for $650. I've handled the camera and it seems to be in full working order. Is that a good deal? Anything I should watch out for?

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there. Seems like a solid deal - see if the store will do any warranty, and make sure that the batteries given are from the unit being sold. That's a good travel setup, right there.

It's a good deal but check that all the back buttons work and make sure the rubber is not separating they are good cameras but not as robustly built as pentax sony canon nikon imho.

That's not a good deal. That's a GREAT deal. The 18-55 alone is worth $350 to $400 on the used market. The X-T1 is worth anywhere from $450 to $550. So yea, you're getting $900 worth of gear for $650. It would be dumb to pass that up.

And since you're from Iowa it's a well known fact that Iowans are waaaaayyyy smarter than any other state so go for it

Had a good day off and out with the new X-T20. I've had it a few weeks now, but the weather has been garbage, and the time limited.
Enjoying the colours, detail, and response of the new camera. I will probably buy a grip, as the hand-hold is not as secure as the X-E1. I also bought the 23mm with it, and apart from up close (where there is plenty of detail, and spherical aberrations), it is a stellar lens. I have a big trip coming up, and the other surprise to me has been the 16-50mm. I got this for video (OIS), but I may use it more often than I thought. Seems to be very little difference in sharpness with my 18-55mm (now sold). Anyway, the new sensor is great. No raw conversions so far (all it camera, so far), and honestly, I don't think I'm missing all that much. Colour is sensational.

Edit: This first one with SMC 55mm Takumar.

More images on the click-through.

I need a telephoto solution for a trip out west in the next month. Thinking to get the 50-230mm as a start. Does anyone else have this lens - if so, what do they think?
I'm aware it's not going to be on the same page as my 60-250mm F4, and is an unsealed, high-light lens, but I think it will work OK for the 50-150 portion of the range I will likely use (landscape and animal applications).
