Had a good day off and out with the new X-T20. I've had it a few weeks now, but the weather has been garbage, and the time limited.
Enjoying the colours, detail, and response of the new camera. I will probably buy a grip, as the hand-hold is not as secure as the X-E1. I also bought the 23mm with it, and apart from up close (where there is plenty of detail, and spherical aberrations), it is a stellar lens. I have a big trip coming up, and the other surprise to me has been the 16-50mm. I got this for video (OIS), but I may use it more often than I thought. Seems to be very little difference in sharpness with my 18-55mm (now sold). Anyway, the new sensor is great. No raw conversions so far (all it camera, so far), and honestly, I don't think I'm missing all that much. Colour is sensational.

Edit: This first one with SMC 55mm Takumar.

Acros B&W is also quite nice:

I need a telephoto solution for a trip out west in the next month. Thinking to get the 50-230mm as a start. Does anyone else have this lens - if so, what do they think?
I'm aware it's not going to be on the same page as my 60-250mm F4, and is an unsealed, high-light lens, but I think it will work OK for the 50-150 portion of the range I will likely use (landscape and animal applications).
Nice pics...looks like you are happy with the reds. Fuji seems to handle reds better than Sony or Pentax. 16-50mm is a super lens. I think the superb kit lenses are the main reasons why Fuji has become so popular all of a sudden. They are sharper wide open than any other kit lens I've seen. I have the 55-200 and it is amazing but If you get the 50-230mm you won't be disappointed for outdoor shooting.

Thanks! I have the X-E1, and had the 18-55mm with it. IMO, the reds are now better on the X-T20 than the X-E1 (much less orangey, and certainly better than the pinky reds I used to get on the K-5IIs I had), and the 16-50 is indeed quite good. I should mention that I did have a polariser on for the kit zoom shots. The 23mm OTOH has no such need - good colour and contrast.

Edit: Thanks for the lens feedback. Yeah, that's what I was expecting, however the latest price increases have been really bad here - $450CAD for a 55-230, and $800 for a 55-200mm. That's a LOT more than they have been retailing for in the last couple of years. Still, I will look out for both - a pity the 55-200 isn't weather-sealed, either.

Some shots from my X-Pro2 with either the 23mm f1.4 or the original silver 13-blade aperture Helios-44.

I have been dropping on this thread every now and then, I really cannot help but ask for your opinions, Fujifilm here is offering their X-T20 + XF23/2 WR for about $1200 payable in 24 months with 0% interest at the same time the Pentax KP has just landed and now being offered at an introductory price of $1300 payable in 24 months with 0% interest. I have been shooting with Pentax for around 7 years and have bought and sold some of the Pentax's finest lenses, but I retained their DA limited primes due to its' compactness, I have been in love with my DA 21/3.2 for the longest time with occasional use of the other limiteds (15/35/70) as the case maybe. My K-30 is still working (around 35,000 clicks). I really do not want to spend more since I think I have enough glasses but just do not have enough time to shoot (#DaddyDuties) but sometimes I think I need a smaller camera that I can always take with (old habit, ABC=always bring your camera) but often times the bulk of a DSLR gets in the way. I bought a decent mobile phone (Huawei P10) hoping to get rid of this gear acquisition syndrome (G.A.S) but I am still yearning for something better especially during family events. Oh the Fuji X-100T can also be had for $800 new.
