Late afternoon sky with just a hint of a rainbow. I took this with my X-T20 and a Vivitar 19mm.
I've been after a Vivitar 19mm (in lieu if the rare and expensive M 20mm f/4) for a few years to replace my 19-35mm on film, which I only ever use at 19mm. The prime would be much smaller.

I've read it's quite poor in image quality (as is the 19-35mm) but this shot looks great.

Here are a few more with the X-T20 and 35/1.4 wide open.

I picked mine up from Craigslist from an older photographer who was getting rid of his film-era kit. It is in immaculate condition, and a real bargain at $20. The Nikon to Fuji X adapter cost almost as much as the lens. My lens is the 19mm f/3.8 that was probably built by Cosina.

I've found the lens to be a decent performer once it is stopped down to f/5.6 or preferably f/8. It has the good film-era colors like my Takumars. The biggest drawback is that it flares badly if the sun isn't at your back.

One of the main reasons I bought the X-T20 was to be able to use my Takumars and all the other great lenses from the last days of film.

The Vivitar is the first wide-angle lens I have gotten to use, other than the kit zoom that came with the X-T20. The 19mm would give a field of view similar to a 28mm on an old film DSLR, and back in the day when I used a Spotmatic (the 1970s), 28mm would have been considered pretty wide. I never had anything except a 55 and 105 for the Spotmatic, so it has been a real eye-opener to use this wide angle lens - lots of fun!

Here's one of my mother's back yard in Florida, Fujifilm X-T20. Vivitar 19mm f/3.8 at f/8, 1/75, ISO800, uncropped.

Yes, the 19-35mm (also built by Cosina) performs decently on film once you get down to f/8 or so. I briefly tried it on my X-M1 but of course it's only moderately wide there and it lacks some colour and contrast, which doesn't seem to be the case with your Vivitar. It's fun to go that wide on a film camera.

Hi. Joining up since I just discovered this thread. Now about 3 months into my acquisition of a used X-E1. Really like it and now playing with Pentax-110 lenses on it. Here are some samples with the 24/2.8.

Excellent series. How do you find the 15-45mm? I'd like the 18-55mm f/2.8-4 as a general use when I need the convenience of a zoom, but am considering getting a 16-50mm or 15-45mm in the meantime, as they're much cheaper.
Thanks!

I am pretty fond of the 15-45... The zoom range at the lower end is very handy and hardly pick up my 12mm Samyang anymore. One the other hand, I dont need the f-stop from the 18-55 because I am using primes for that. So my current travel setup is more or less either 15-45mm, 55-200mm, 23mm, 56mm or the two zooms with 18mm F2 and 35mm F1.4. Currently contemplating about a X-H1 to compare it with the A7II.

On a side note: As I currently own an A7II with 35mm F1.4 lenses and two zooms: the color is soo bad with Sony. Can't get decent results and Fuji only needs a 5 sec tweak in Lightroom. There a two reasons why I am considering Sony: 35mm F1.4 DOF potential and AF algorithms as Sony has a bigger footprint in advanced algorithms ("AI", "maschine learning")... any thoughts on that?

Edit:

15-45mm

Sinister, I really like colours you get. Is it just (may be Iridient X +) Lightroom and that's all?

A quick outing today to Poitiers' museum with my two youngest daughters ... more Pentax-110 film lens action. Here, the 24/2.8 with an added aperture circle on the Fujifilm X-E1. (x-post from Monochrome thread)

Question to Sinister:
Are those images taken with Sony or Fujifilm?
bit confused...

How much input do you have to give these models for posing or do they pretty much know what they want?

I own the Sony RX 100 and find the reds produced by it are much more accurate (deeper) in sunlight than my Fuji X-T1 but the Fuji is much better with all the rest of the colors. Do you find the same?
