Originally posted by Sam_I_am I kind of fall at the lower end of the spectrum. My wife is the photographer, I take pictures. I love cameras, old...er cameras. It's all about the feel of it in my hands and knowing how intricate it's construction is. When I look at the pictures you post, I comment on the ones that move me emotionally in some way. Sometimes I can actually put into words why I like it, sometimes it's an intangible.
The one thing I do know, is that I am not wondering what camera was used, or what lens, or what film speed and if it was over or underexposed, what the aperture setting was, or if it was post edited.
I probably shouldn't mention that I like my zoom lenses and I don't even own a Fuji. 😅
I really enjoy looking at your pictures and follow half a dozen different threads. When the personality of the photographer comes across in their pictures or comments, that makes it more interesting. Like getting to interact with the good glinda.
To sum it all up, last month I was working on a friend's car. His family and ours grew up together. He is 12 years older than me and has always been like an older brother. He has been a photographer for decades, semi pro, appreciates and uses very good equipment. On that day I showed him a photograph that I took, he was amazed by it, and told me in detail why. Then he asked which one of my cameras I used and what lens. I simply said Galaxy S20. He shook his head with a disgusted look.
😀
I spent most of the last 15 years shooting primes almost exclusively, but recently have bought back into zooms I love the XF 10-24 f4 zoom, I love the 50-140 2.8 - but hate the weight, the 16-55 2.8 covers my most frequently shot range, it is crazy sharp but i am not falling in love with it, the 23 and 35 1.4 and 56 1.2 have spoiled me in that range for the zoom. (I may sell it and the 50-140 and just get the 16-80 and 70-300 as lightweight alternatives but I am holding off until I get a chance to use them more in a non restricted by Covid way .. years back II shot a Sigma 24-70 2.8 on My K10 and K7 and loved it for shooting events something I haven't done since getting these. on the GFX I have the 45-100 and it is an amazing zoom but weights a kilo
As for the disdain for the S20, I have none , I have S20 Ultran and am endlessly amazed by the results I get from it. I wouldn't print them at 20"x30" but for smaller prints the output is good , I would love to see the image you shot

My first copy I got was on an SP500 spotmatic in the 70s, I sold it on when I got better setup, at one point I had 3 from buying lots a decade or more back, I started too late re-amassing taks if I started when I bought my DS I could have bought almost the entire Takumar line for what some of the collectible ones go for now (there was a Member from Florida Ira who I guess passed away. Called himself a trashographer
who had almost every tak made and rarely had paid more than 5-10 bucks for them, not sure how his collection was sold (never happened here) but whoever got it scored they were all in near mint shape
