Originally posted by Winder I have used both. I almost bought the XT-1 instead of the A7II. The X-T1 is a great little camera with some really great glass. I have not shot with one since the new firmware 4.0 was released. The K-3 (I own) is faster in every way. IF you shoot primarily JPEGs and people, then I think the Fuji has an advantage with its colors and skin tones right out of the box. If you shoot RAW and want to deal with custom color profiles then the K-3 is going to give you better results. The K-3 is a much more refined camera. The Fuji can be a lot of fun to use, the lenses are really good, and Fuji has done a great job getting lenses to market..
First time I've ever heard anyone complimenting Fuji for their skin tones or colors. I guess you've never done a head to head comparison. Fuji's colors are not as accurate as Pentax, either raw or jpg. Take an XT1 (or any X-series for that matter) and put it head to head with a K3.
Like the comment above, saying Fuji has a better lens selection than Pentax, I think you've got it ass-backwards.
I've said it before, I think Fuji makes the best black and white cameras for their size and weight on the planet. But their colors cannot compete with Pentax. If you want to debate sharpness, resolution, even bokeh, I'll give that to Fuji but please, don't talk about colors when discussing Fuji, that is not their strength. Specifically their reds, greens, and skin tones look troubling to me. It resembles the colors put out by Canon's entry level DSLR's. My uncle has a 6D and we both took shots of the entire family. The skin tones looked oversaturated and putrid compared with my KS2. I also don't think Fuji's coatings are quite as good as Pentax. To me, specifically the Limited series, Pentax's coatings are competitive with Canon's L lenses. They are incredibly vivid and have tremendous pop and contrast. Fuji's images pop because of their remarkable sharpness and resolution, but not because of their colors. Fuji was smart to design their system from the ground up with digital in mind and it shows.
