It's kind of funny, but many of the people here are like volunteer marketers. They will try and intimate that you really should want more. Some equate being unhappy with one's talent as being unhappy with one's gear. It's easy to sell gear to such people. However, I've not seen a compelling case for why most people should want even more than a *ist D. IN fact given current technology, imagine the IQ you could achieve with a 6 MP backlit APS-c sensor.

All that notwithstanding, I'd still rather have eight megapixels in my vidcap than one or two. There is blur, yes, but that depends on what the subject is doing at the time, and a few still frames when they are relatively motionless or when the right parts are non-blurry could be golden moments.
Crikey, we're not still talking about shooting 4k porn are we?

ya, cause they all do that. I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread. Which DSLR is best for shooting porn?

Weather resistance would be an obvious plus.

Maybe that's why these guys all want to shoot 4k porn on their DSLR. The first problem with shooting home porn, is, the wife isn't going o agree to it in many cases. But you could just happen to leave your camera on your dresser, and it could just happen to be on. With a still camera you need some one to press the button. A movie camera can just be on all the time. A movie camera has no other use but to shoot movies. But a still camera the can be left on unobtrusively?

Is one of the advantages of a DSLR the opportunity to shoot stealth porn? We need some of those guys who go on and on about "Video, video, video" to question, in dark room with a single light and some implements of torture.

Maybe we are on to something.

Pentax is definitely falling further behind in the stealth porn department.

I suspect those little Sony cameras have big advantage there.

I guess it all depends on whether you are shooting the porn openly or covertly. If the former, any DSLR with video would probably do; if the latter, you are a peeping tom and should be behind bars, and if arrested your equipment will be seized and probably destroyed or auctioned off, so go with the cheapest.

Going back through the thread... I still don't have an answer, it turns out Sony have their own site, so what are the Sony shills doing here?

Are they like vegans "the first rule of Vegan club is tell everyone about Vegan club."?

They confuse consumerism with Christianity and think god has told them to go forth and spread the word?

Is there a quota for Sony users? Like Jehovah's Witnesses? The 100,000 thousand with the most converts get into heaven?

The Sony forum is way too boring? Is that it?

I have asked the question before and the answer seems to be, "This is the non-Pentax part of the forum and we are allowed to spew whatever non-sense we want?" But that doesn't answer the question.

Why do you want to... that you want to is obvious, but why do you want to sell Sony cool aid on a Pentax forum to a bunch of people who for whatever reason, have decided it's not for them.

The other thing is there is apparently a Sony forum... they tell me it's true but why don't I know. I know there is DPReveiew because people quote threads over there. and occasionally I go there, just to see individual posts. There's not a single quote to the Sony website that I've ever followed.

Do you guys really think you are the saviours of the ignorant Pentaxians who just have't seen the light? Like you honestly believe you have some inside line to the Sony marketing site, that we are desperately searching for info in the latest un-released Sony and just are'nt smart enough to know where to look for it? It is there some other justification for this behaviour?

Who comes on anyone's site and proclaims their gear is obsolete because of some other companies marketing hype? That's just beyond rude.

I think Pentax needs to be spanked regularly until it releases a decent full frame camera.
Perhaps, but there's a common colloquialism used to describe people who regularly spank a brand on its brand specific internet forum.

I'm not much interested in video and shooting porn is not on my menu....but Otis did want to remind that as The Resident Critic for NSFW material, he is more than happy to critique your work should you have any porn videos that need critiquing. Just send him a PM and he will dedicate his services to Members here free of charge.

Norm.....He says your naked hiney shot does not qualify for his services.....sorry!

Regards!

Before shooting, get your white balance and exposure right with my new "Fifty Shades of Grey Card" (trademark applied for)

The insecure?

This should be a sticky, Norm.

There's a notorious Sony fanboi here obsessed with the concept of 'armchair expert' but, who laughingly, may only have a K-10 himself.

You can work out who he is - he's on plenty of ignore lists and can't take a hint.

Sony's camera division has been put on notice.

Like computers, phones and TVs, it's been separated from the profitable sensor business and will be sold off if it can't turn a profit.

As the poor devils who bought into their A-mount have found, shareholders want returns.

I speak as an owner of three Sony MILCs by the way, including FF.

That seems to be the proper place for it. Ricoh is more likely to care about what is written on a Pentax oriented site than on a Sony, Nikon or Canon site. I think you are too ego-involved in this stuff.
