New D-FA Limited Lenses to be Made By Tamron?

Review – Tamron SP 45mm f/1.8 DI VC USD

Review – Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD

Since Ricoh is paying Tamron to make the D-FA 24-70mm for them, what are the odds that we see these appear under the D-FA Limited badge?

Those look more like candidates for D FA* treatment in Pentax land.

It wouldn't surprise me at all.
35 and 50ish mm primes are definitely required for the new FF system and there have been multiple reports that the FA limiteds are no longer in production.
Just puttin' 2 and 2 together.

Hope not. I'm very happy with the design materials and manufacture of my three Pentax Limited lens.

pentax would be smart to bring on these tamron lenses, it's instant ff legit status, with comparatively little engineering investment.

If Pentax decide to go "all big" like Canikon, then they will loose many customers.

Of course many will be happy with big f1.4 primes, but many would also like small f1.8 /f2 primes, and for that the limited are unrivaled !

24-70, 70-200, and 150-450 are by no means small lenses.
AND like I mentioned above, there have been numerous reports of there being no more production of the FA limiteds.

I think there is a strong likelihood that these will be re-branded as Pentax lenses before next-generation FA limiteds are produced. Not saying that there will not be D-FA limiteds in the future, but that much more effort is required to develop those than rebrand these...and Pentax needs new lenses to complete their FF line-up sooner rather than later.

We all have very little clue about what goes on behind the scenes in Ricoh, Tamron, Sigma, Tokina or other companies.

For all we know, the Pentax 16-85, 150-450 and even the recent 70-200 were designed and or built outside of Ricoh, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see lenses like the Tamron f1.8 primes show up in Pentax in future.

Unfortunately those Tamron primes are expensive even when badged as Tamron, so I'd hate to think how much they would cost in Pentax.

FYI, Lenstip has reviewed both Tamron's. I like the 35mm the best.
