Does anyone know a good indoor portrait lens for Canon?

Hi, all! While visiting family, I got a question that I'm hoping someone here on the forum can help with. This person has a Canon Rebel with the two kit lenses and is just getting into photography. They want to keep the budget low and is quite willing to buy used but not manual. Any suggestions for a good, wide-ish indoor prime? For reference, they had just seen what my camera with the FA 31/1.8 could do and was hoping for something similar.

Thanks to anyone who could suggest something appropriate!

The Sigma 30/1.4 Art? It's a DC though, so APS-C only.

How wide do the want to go? For cheap this comes to mind:
Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens 9522B002 B&H Photo Video

For classic portraits the 50mm F1.8 would also do the trick.

Thanks so much, guys! I've been wanting to try out the Sigma myself. And Adam, many are the days that I've wished for a 24/2.8 for myself I'll definitely pass along the recommendations!

If they don't mind learning manual focus, I have the Samyang 35mm f/1.4 and its an absolutely amazing lens. Its sharp even at f/1.4.

I flubbed focus on this one, but if you look at the ground in front of him youll see what I mean. In most circumstances you'd stop down a few pegs anyway for portraiture.
