So....This happened

Picked up Nikon D750 and 24-120 Saturday. Ordering a Sigma 150-600 sport.

Need some help deciding on a fast wide lens.

The new Tamron 15-30?

Is a Sigma 20mm ART wide enough on a FF?

Pondering a ART 20 and then a Samyang/Rokinon 14

Well the DA 15mm on APS-C is a 22.5mm FF equiv. So, a 20mm on FF is even wider.

Let us know how you like the D750

Great point. TY

I'll re-look at the Tamron.

Great purchase

There are one or two threads now on FF and quite a few comments on how the K3 easily stacks up against the D750 - from K3 owners

Seeing that you seem to own a K3 yourself it would be nice to have your reasons in going to a Nikon D750

I own the the D750 but have only the experience of the Pentax K10D

I would personally look at the Nikon 18-35 too as its a much lighter lens although not as wide

The other option being the Nikon 16-35 F4

All highly regarded

I've only had the D750 since Saturday. But from what I have seen so far....those K3 owners may be comparing specs only. The D750 is in a different class then my K3. I had some useable pictures at 12,800 ISO the other day. From what i've see so far....my wifes D7100 smokes the K3. I think a lot of that was the lens itself.

The other area that takes the D750 to an entirely different playing field is lens selection. The first time I shot birds I obtained a level of detail from the pictures I couldn't get with the K3 and 50-500 OS/HSm etc.

I actually was seconds away from pulling the trigger on a 150-450 and t/c to the tune of $2500. I was really concerned that even with the FF coming out the other lens manufactures still wouldn't start producing some nice lens for Pentax. I decided to use the $$ towards moving to Nikon. I almost got the 810....but felt it was overkill. I visited with a Tamron rep the week before and they stated they have no plans to start making some of their popular lenses for Pentax. Even if the FF launched tomorrow.... they would need to see what the sales would be to even ponder Pentax adoption.

Sigma...same thing.

I ordered a Sigma ART 20mm, Rokinon 14mm, and a Sigma 150-600 sport yesterday. Can;t wait to start shooting with them

I have a older Nikkor 20/2.8D, a Zeiss 21/2.8 and a Zeiss 18/3.5. The 21mm is pretty wide for me most the time and not too often I want wider but for some people lenses can't be wide enough so to ask that question is highly subjective. But even at 20mm you'll need to shoot level if you want to avoid radical convergence/divergence on many scenes.

You seem to have the zoom range covered. I would go for the Sigma ART lens.

The D750 is a great camera. If I were starting over today that would be my camera of choice.

I have the newer 20mm f1.8g and it is a beauty! I think it tested sharper than the 21mm Zeiss. It is also pretty affordable.

It is plenty wide on FF, in fact any wider and you get that really stretched out frame which can look cartoonish with the wrong subject.

I have the D750 and use it with the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC It satisfied my needs up to 95 % of my shots
It was the only lens that I bought although I did have the 16-35 but left it home ...this lens would have been
used in those 5% .The 16-35mm lens is a game changer with VR a +.
Tamron have step up their range to be a viable contender

cheers

@kentster -- let me know what you think of the 24-120. I really like mine, though it has some pretty wicked distortion at 24. I have to work to keep straight lines away from the edges, as some of it can't be corrected. I really like how fast it locks on (I'm shooting a D610), and have no fear shooting it wide-open. I was hoping to get away with it as a landscape lens (I usually shot with a Sigma 17-50mm when I had my Pentax gear) but I think I'm going to take a strong look at either a 20mm 1.8g, or the 18-35. Just need to read some more reviews before I cut lose the cashola.

So far i'm real happy with the 24-120. I think the 24-120 could be a great landscape lens. I wanted something a little wider. My Sigma 20mm ART arrives tomorrow. Rokinon 14 on monday. I love my 10-20 and 10-17 with my K3...so wanted to get as wide.

Hearing LOTS of great things about Tamrons 15-30 as well. A little pricey at $1100.
