Wow, this is... the new standard? I like it, I think. Except for the size. It's actually not too heavy, only 60 grams more than a K-3. (speaking relatively here; I actually think the K-3 is a bit too heavy already)

I thought it was very difficult to get AF coverage out to the edges. Apparently Nikon has solved it though. Come on Pentax, 25 cross-type points in the center of the frame is not very useful.
They also seem to have fixed the location of the ISO button.

Seems like Nikon shooters will pair the D5 with a D500 for extra "reach" with their current FX lenses.
Which suggests it unlikely Nikon will offer any serious DX-only glass, leaving a window of opportunity for Pentax to keep expanding their crop-sensor system in parallel with the K1.

No signs of that happening yet though. And I doubt Pentax will continue to invest as much in high-end APS-C glass as they also need to market their fullframe. I hate to sound negative, but I hate wishful thinking even more.
