Your thoughts and suggestions....

Back about 2010 I bought a Canon S95 pocket camera when they first came out.

Through the years it has served me well. What it has taught me is how useful it is to have a camera that you can take with you anywhere and not be a burden.

Anyway since then technology has moved on and I'm thinking of of upgrading to something more up to date.
Off hand what I would like is something truly pocketable not just "small" (for instance the Panasonic LX 100 is too big), RAW and with, at least, a useable viewfinder. Beyond that I'm open to suggestions.
Ultimate drop dead image quality is not a deal breaker - I don't print anything bigger then 8x10 anyway.

I don't keep up on the camera market and the latest tech so that's why I'm asking here.

Your take on the above would be much appreciated.

A low light shot with the little Canon (RAW)...

The Canon G5X is probably at the limit of what I would call pocketable... you can't put them in a skinny jeans pocket, I'm sure But since I don't wear those, it would be my pick...

Compared to LX100: Compare camera dimensions side by side - look at the top view.

Maybe look at the Pano GM5, light ,compact and versatile....lots of lens options and a good back up( with adapter).

Problem, at least potentially, is solved.

The neighbor lady got this camera for Christmas and asked me for help on how to use it.

Digital Camera with Viewfinder - DMC-ZS50 - Panasonic US

I had a few hours to just play with it and came to the conclusion that it would suit my needs just fine. Not perfect but what is. For instance the SR works much better than any other camera I have.

Anyway found on Amazon that I could get one delivered to my door for just $165 with the usual generous Amazon return policy so I ordered one.
Given Amazon's return policy I'm not taking much of a chance so why not.

Will post a few pics when it get it.

Got it Saturday afternoon and had a little time to shot with it.

Arrived in perfect condition as far as I can tell and all for 165 bucks.

Was planning on shooting it in Av mode but the controls are a bit clumsy for that.
Tried the full auto mode and the results were not all that bad. Quick and you don't have to think about it.
I can always touch it up PS if there is something I don't like.

It's a glorified PS after all so why not use it that way?

A few tentative shots in full auto ....

Getting a little more hang of it... it's so different from the k5

Not too bad considering it's a 1/2.3" sensor camera that you can put in a shirt pocket...

Tried "HDR" setting on a strong backlight situation - not all that bad considering....
