D600, D750 (again) - all seem plagued with design or QC problems.
Nikon is doomed.

This just in, Nikon issues a service advisory for a defect that nearly no one has encountered a problem from and fixes it for free. What a bunch of jerks.

Please, you know thats not what this thread is about and nobody insulted Nikon corp for this.. embarrassment or however you want to call it. Plenty of Nikon models had some kind of problems in the past. As did some Pentax models. But Nikon still enjoys a sterling reputation, while some people seem to assume Pentax falls apart after the first month of use.
Im not even going to talk about how much better, more solid, Pentax cameras feel in hand compared to Nikon cameras of the same price.

I guess getting kicked out of China and Russia after try to pimp their defective 600s and 800s there taught them a lesson.

You're right. I was just feeling snarky. My apologies for stirring the pot.

Maybe Nikon is gun shy after the D600 incident and doesn't want to repeat it. So maybe they are making sure you have recourse for fixing it if there is even a hint of a shutter problem.

I sent my D750 off for this repair earlier this week when the advisory was issued. I've had no problems at all with the camera but I figure a free sensor cleaning, adjusted af module and possibly new shutter mechanism isn't going to make me unhappy.

I had a shoot yesterday and had to use the B-Team. The D750 can't return fast enough.
