Budget telephoto zoom lens for Sony A330

Hi all,
My friend asked me for some advice for a gift for his girlfriend. She is using a Sony A330 camera with the kit lens. What she wants is to be able to zoom further. From what I understand, what I need to look for is A-mount lenses. At lunch I looked at some options and there are plenty low cost 50-200 or 70-300 from Sony, Sigma and Tamron. I did not look at the used market but I will. We were looking at 200 CAD budget, maybe stretched to 250 CAD if there is a great deal.

Do you have suggestions or "do not buy" information? I will do further research tonight. Thanks for your input in advance!

^^^this

it's called "beercan", you can pick 'em up used for cheap, and they have screw-drive autofocus, via the body.

Thanks Sliver-Surfer,
My friend did not want to go the used way for his girlfriend so he choose the Sony 55-200mm new. Easy to find, cheap, light and the same look and brand as her 18-55. Was not my first choice but we have totally different needs. I mainly shoot wide angle and she rarely shoots under 55mm.
