You can buy that, or you can upgrade your APS-C Nikon body to a D500 (assuming you haven't already).

All that being said, I could see a use for this. Two extra stops on a 100mm lens would have been just the thing for my kids' last dance recital. But oh, the cost...

On a 2k dollar portrait specialty lens I wouod have ex0ected perfectly round bokeh in shots 2 and 3 reguardless of where the hoghlight is in the frame.

Hard to justify that price at any level of performance to be honest though. For a portrait prime lens anyway.

It allready has a 82mm filter thread. For round bokeh balls all over the frame it would need an even bigger front element making it even heavier and more expensive.

Then I guess my reaction becomes "why bother with this lens". I'd rather it be 105/ 1.8 or 2 and have round bokeh... just me

No it isn't I Changes your perspective tremendously because you need to shoot further from the subject.

+1
Its "characterful" if the price is right.
But for a modern lens at this price, I find it surprising to say the least.
Obviously something's gotta give with f1.4 such that optical vignetting occurs.

This lens is exactly the spec sheet, ego boosters that we the consumers seem to be driving the makers towards.
At the expense of the wallet, encumbrance and imo logical usage of lenses in more generalist real use situations.

Great as a lens one has a Sherpa hauling a few of them around during a trip.

It will catch attention of course (part of the reason why its made)

This is the non-pentax part of the forum. I am sure the K-1 got some attention on Canonikon forums. It's not like Pentax is the only brand that can do any good you know.
