To be honest, he was just putting a remark and without your big font and quoting would likely have remained quite unoticed Don't complain of something hapening being visible and then putting it much more into evidence.

I don't think anyone was whining - just expressing a valid opinion... Let's keep this friendly, eh?

90% of that member's post was about the new (A-mount) A99II's capabilities... I think it's in the right thread.

No, I'm not. His post was primarily about the A99II - an A-mount camera, and the thread is about A-mount. You're welcome to your opinion, and I have mine, but let's not accuse people of whining, please

I'm not being any way, Marc - I'm just politely pointing out why the post is valid in this thread, and politely asking you to be pleasant. No offence intended, OK?

That is back end, for jpeg processing.
Actually Ricoh explains the function in clear detail on their website here Features2 | PENTAX K-70 | RICOH IMAGING

It's for greatly improved noise reduction Wait for the full review from this forum, but it will show what I also found out after purchase. The higher ISO settings are actually pretty good.

But the accelerator doesn't do anything for focusing, that's the Prime MII and why the results not a dramatic change from the K-S2. Hybrid AF might have been more of an improvement with a Prime III. Suspect Pentax is saving that for a future camera release.

Maybe the industrie is shifting it's attention from the megapixel race towards processing power. This a99ii could do video in 8k at 12p if the codec would be in it. A good step towards having 8k video at 24p in the future. Something that is going to be live at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Let's hope you are correct. I think the drive towards mp, has left other needed attributes in the dust. I never was of the school of frequent burst shots to get the precise moment of a bird doing whatever. But i did notice that when the mfr shifted to more FF cameras, the burst rates dropped to the now common 5 fps (due to the larger amounts of data that needed processing). I was once asked to shoot an actor jumping. The K3's 8.3 fps were barely adequate to get me one shot of this actor at the highest arc of his jump. So i can understand wildlife and sports shooters wanting a lot more than 5fps. In fact, thats what justifies larger cameras to me - the size needed to support higher shooting rates, processing speed, double SD card slots, larger batteries, etc. Sony had to compromise a lot of functionality to cram APS and FF cameras into the small packages they did. Customers can't have it both ways, usually :-)

It seems to me that at least Sony stopped the pixel war except for the custom MF sensor for phase one. We have been at 24MP on APSC for a long time and then only improvement over the long time 36MP of FF sensor has been 42MP in term of pixel.

Canon reacted with their 5Ds but I am not sure many would prefer it to 5D IV honestly; And overall I don't see a huge demand for more.
