Cosina C1?

Well came across a Phoenix P1 (which I was able to nail down as a Cosina C1) at KEH. Any experience on this camera?

I'm just curious.

Sincerely

I have two of the Cosina C1s (one silver, one black), which is the same as the C1 but with a self-timer facility. Great little camera - very lightweight due to mostly plastic construction, but solid enough, and it has a fast maximum shutter speed of 1/2000s. It was rebranded by several companies including Vivitar. I wouldn't pay a lot for one... it's not a camera "for life", but a great all-manual body nonetheless. Put your favourite K-mount lenses on it and have fun

I have what I think is a C1s labeled as Promaster 2000PK Super. It came with a 50mm F1.9 lens.

I also have a Hikari 2002 Multi-exp which is the same as the Vivitar V3800N. It's made by Cosina and is closely related to the C2/C3.

How does it compare to a KM? I have heard horror stories about meter off and the film advance crank breaking off on the C1.

It's plastic. The KM is made of metal and built like a tank...

Yeah, there is no comparison. As I said, it's not a camera for life. It's a fun, low-cost (especially now, but also when it was a current model), basic camera. I use mine infrequently and I expect them to last years. If you were using one every week, I expect it would suffer wear & tear within a year or so. Maybe, maybe not.

Does anyone have a copy of a manual for the C1 or C1S? Just got one and I'm looking forward to playing with it.

@jofusb - I don't have an electronic copy, but the Vivitar V3800N (made by Cosina) is almost identical - they are essentially the same camera re-badged, but the Vivitar has an additional "multi-exposure" feature that the C1 and C1s don't have. You can get the manual for the Vivitar here:

Vivitar V3800N instruction manual, user manual, PDF manual, free manuals
