I still have my first digital camera, an Olympus C2040. I bought it back in 2000 or so when I was working as a freelance technical writer/technical illustrator and I needed a digital camera to shoot industrial equipment. I was writing operator and maintenance manuals and would have to take photos of the equipment in general and close-ups of specific parts/areas which were required for the various manual sections. I specifically bought the C2040 as it was the only digital camera available at that time with a f1.8 lens and most of the time I was shooting in poorly lit workshops/factories and couldn't set up lights.
This is the camera:
It took amazingly good photos considering it was only a 2MP sensor. I even used it to produce 360° VR views of guest house and B&B rooms to be used on websites.
Here's a shot taken on my 49th birthday (10 years ago) with my birthday gift to myself, a Michael Kelly Dragonfly fretless acoustic bass guitar (my profile pic was taken the same evening).
I used that camera for many years until it was replaced by my K-30 in April 2013.
