2 days of food

Here's a small selection of some food I shot over the last 2 days. I should have brought my K-1 with me, but I used the work camera; Canon 5dm2 with the 24-105mm f/4. We worked hard and got some great stuff and I wanted to share the results. Enjoy!

Exceptional shots. Great lighting. It would be really interesting to have you discuss the lighting and setup for each of the shots.
Diagrams would help! (Lighting positions etc. )

Agreed - I'd love to understand the lighting used; both equipment and the positioning / setup

I can try to add some details regarding the lighting. To be honest, they weren't that difficult and either used 1 or 2 lights.

I wish! Though, the perks of shooting food is the feast at the end of the day.

Food glorious food.......my supper was cheese and crackers. Nightmares tonight.
Stupid question though, the seventh image down of the drinks that look like they have balls of whipped cream in them. Is the depth of field so tiny that I cannot seem to register it with my admittedly poor eyesight? EXIF shows F6.3 so I would imagine I should see more of something focussed.
Pardon me if the image is about aesthetics and soft focus has been the intention, I admit to be ignorant about so many things.

Food often looks best backlit, as you demonstrate here in the low angle shots.

+1 for a tips and tricks on lighting food. I'm very interested.

The powdered sugar wreath gave me a chuckle. My favorites are either the coffee (is it coffee?) or the cucumber salad appetizer (also guessing here).

On an unrelated note. I.m hungry.

I guess this is the place to remind you "the best camera I have is the camera I have with me"

Excellent series of shots! That first one has me digging in my freezer for the last of the trout although I prefer to grill mine on cedar planks rather than cooked in the pan.
