Olympu$$$$$$$ OMD em1 mk2....US$ 1999

Well, I think a few more K1s will be sold!...As good as the specs on this new model are,I don't think this will be a great seller at this price.

1849 quid in UK!

Agreed. I have been stunned by the predictions of this price already and just can't fathom paying that.

I expect it'll be a very good camera, and I guess for die-hard Oly fans and those who simply must reduce kit size, it will still find buyers... but Holy Toledo, that's expensive

That can only be called fantasy pricing.
About a month ago I bought an Oly E-M10 with two kit lens' for 400 bucks new. A competent little kit that suits my needs nicely.
But 2000 bucks and no glass - get real.

Now, that's a bargain... I'll bet they can sell those all day at that sort of money, as well they should...

Yeah. That's waaaaaay too much money. The Nikon D500 is a much more attractive deal. I'd be one of those guys that would wait about 3 to 4 years before getting one of these. Basically when it's being blown out of the store shelves due to the next generation camera coming out. The E-M1 with PRO lens combo at B&H is a steal compared to this.

I'm sure that some m43 diehards will buy one, though. There sure is a lot of commotion in the m43 section of DPReview about the pricing.

I completely agree, its only caught up with plenty of simarly priced bodies and makes the Pano G80/5 extremely good value(but its only got one card slot)

Shoots fast, or makes more frames to delete!

Also its Olys first attempt at 4K video on an ILC camera(? I think) so I hope its good for the people who pay this price.

M43 forums are highly disappointed with the price, most were hoping for $1500 US

My 300 buck Oly body on the back end of $3000 worth of glass (560mm at a distance of 40 feet) - it gets the job done (note the ISO)...

At that price for any m4/3 body they are not buying gear but ego.

It is nuts, they way all the camera companies are scrambling to counter falling sales with premium products, like the K-1.

As Wildman points out, you can take fine photos much more cheaply with other m43 bodies, or use your $2000 and actually go for the IQ of full frame from Pentax, Canon, Nikon or Sony.

Theres deals on the D500 which fall under this price(in the US),so I'm sure that model will appeal to some M43 shooters who were waiting for the price to be announced.

Yes, exactly what I do....M43 is excellent for what it is,Oly pushing this onto their loyal fans will lose plenty....a survey shows 17% approve of the price on their forum.

It does sound an extremely nice camera, I must say. But given its price and its performance, who is it actually for? There is still an m43 sensor inside. I might have to see whether any local colleges offer courses in high-end shoplifting.

(Laughs).

I think the same thing of the Fuji XT-2 and the Nikon D500. Lovely cameras but way overpriced for the smaller sensors.

Very good - will keep that as my own to describe the behavior of much of our political and corporate elite here in the States.
