As did many! ha ha.

My observations of the so called best of the year ect is sceptical, there are many offerings each year that could be judged to be "best"....However, its usually just an opinion of one specific journalist....When I research something i'll get as many reviews as I can find( but not DPs) and look at YT....

Every camera released now has its positives, they are all highly capable....some have unique bells and whistles, so to speak like the K1.

Yep, right now there's a bunch of EM1 Mk2 owners nodding in sage agreement that their camera is in the top slot (whilst everyone else can't quite believe the price!), a group of D500 owners amazed that the D500 didn't get number 1 (but pleased it made the list), and numerous XT2 owners not feeling quite so disappointed now with the camera's "grid artefact" sensor issue. Every other owner of a brand new model is slightly miffed that the web-site incorrectly passed over their cameras for the top picks list

As you say, pretty much every camera now is very, very good indeed, and these picks are indeed a very subjective list. Which camera is best for each of us is a very individual thing

Its only released today I think, so those owners were QUICK off the mark 2! ! !

Imagining Resource have just announced some "category" judgements....K1 was runner up in "professional dslr".....i didn't know there were those sorts of cameras....just cameras that may be used for paid jobs.

Indeed. They must NEVER be used by amateur enthusiasts. I'm looking forward to the day I go pro so I can qualify for a K-1

While the overall 2016 results read that way, ie:

Camera of the Year 2016: Best Overall
Camera of the Year, Best Overall: Olympus E-M1 Mark II
Camera of Distinction, Overall Achievement: Nikon D500
Camera of Distinction, Overall Achievement: Fuji X-T2

Camera of the Year 2016: Best Overall

they still acknowledge FF (and the K-1):

Camera of the Year 2016: Best Professional and High-End Cameras

Camera of the Year, Best Professional DSLR: Canon 5D Mark IV
Camera of Distinction, Professional DSLR: Pentax K-1
Camera of the Year, Best Professional Mirrorless: Olympus E-M1 Mark II
Camera of Distinction, Professional Mirrorless: Fuji X-T2
Camera of Distinction, Professional Mirrorless: Fuji X-Pro2
Camera of the Year, Best High End: Nikon D5
Camera of Distinction, High End: Canon 1D X Mark II

Camera of the Year 2016: Best Professional and High-End Cameras

But yeah, small sensor cameras have certainly come a long way.

If my camera doesn't win, I simply assume, they don't use the criteria I do.

In this case, the Canon sensor appears to produce warmer images than the Sony sensors do.

That can sell images.

You could warm up the K-1 in post probably, but I find you can't always count on that, or it's a lot of work. However coming second to a camera that's twice the money, no shame in that.

Canon enthusiasts were disappointed with the video aspect from what ive read in comments that follow reviews. Its stills capability is good but not twice as good as the K1.

The choice between a K1 and a lens or ten( depending what you choose) and the 5D(iv) is an easy choice.
