At Pentax there is marketing, they don't need to work because the Pentax cameras sell themselves.
Pentax style:
Pentax marketing hibernates like marmots and wake up a few times a year when interrupted from sleep:
1)
Once every 20 years: For studying the Full Frame market after Ricoh shaking Pentax from Hoya, 3 years of hard work reading the specification and tear down of the D810, add the O-GPS unit and the pixel shift taken from K3II.
2)
Once a year: Been waked up by engineers who finished the new camera model, have to write a press release for the new product, oh no, that's a lot of work.
3)
Once a year: Answer Pentax forum interview questions from Adam, the trick is to say something vague so that the Pentaxians do not to give up k mount, and prevent Canon from copying the Pentax ideas, except regarding pixel shift, Canon can't move the sensors coz Canon sensors are glued at the back of their cameras, that's a lot cheaper to make.
4)
Once in a decade: Emergency: usually stay asleep when Canikon supporters bashing Pentax all the time (that's business as usual), but eventually react officially to deny rumor of Pentax stopping camera business when the bashing from anonymous crosses border to Nikkei public press
Sony style: we will grow the market (hopefully not too much of it will be grabbed by Canon).
Canon style: we want to be number one in big DSLR (well that's not that difficult, you are already there).
Fuji: we already told you many times, you don't need a full frame camera because our X trans beats them all (we gave so much money to Zack to tell you that), but you do need a GFX50 cropped MF (Don't have the money? humm , never mind).
