Congratulations. I've posted a good few images with mine in the 300mm lens club, and the adaptall mount club. Hope to see you there...

PS one of the first things to do is get a long plate for the tripod mount. I diy'ed my own.

Good work.

Bit tricky trying to hold the bazooka and focus at the same time innit...

PS hey looks like you've got more lenses than I have (and thats saying something...) !

Not difficult actually, the center of gravity is where the heel of my left hand sits(between zoom and focus rings).

Congrats on the "new" lens! I picked one up in February as an impulse buy, and have been rather impressed with its sharpness. A couple weeks ago I acquired the 140F 1.4x TC, and have found the quality of the combo at 700mm to be decent, all things considered.

Tamron SP Adaptall 31A 200-500mm Indepth Review on Sony A7 - YouTube

A fair review, I think - I gave it a "like". I've noticed that spherical aberration really kicks the Tamron's ass inside 25' or so, unless stopped down to at least f/9.5.

I didn't get any of the nice goodies you got with your lens, just the bare lens, front cap, and 43mm rear filter. I found the front cap to be a PITA so I replaced it with a cheap pinch cap. I'm using on a K-5 II with the PK/A adapter, so I get aperture control.

Thanks.
I plan on taking it out with my K5 one of these days. How well does the k5ii cope with image stabilizing on this lens.

Hmm, I haven't done any significant testing, but the best I've managed freestanding is 1/350. With my A 400/5.6 I can do 1/180. One time with the A400 I experimented with the SR and found that 1/350s with SR=ON was consistently good, but when SR=OFF all the shots were at least a little bit soft.

I'm impressed with your 1/500 performance on the A7.

Pics look very decent.

GoPro on your wife's helmet?

How do you feel your lens did? I use mine fairly often for backyard birding, nearly always coupled with the 140F 1.4x TC.

I think I' might be better off using my 60-300mm on my a6000. The zoom creep was annoying and the lens required about 2pixels of sharpening to match what I usually get straight off the 60-300mm wide open. However the a7 allow me to recover shadows better and shoot with less noise.

OMG 7hrs outdoors in record breaking Heatwave(32C/90F) no tripod with this monster on my camera at the Airshow London(Canada). I gotta say I prefer the adaptall 60-300mm for airshow over this one for airshows
