Ahh there is the 100MP sensor..

The higher the resolution these sensors go, the more I feel like one could almost always shoot wide angle and crop to what they want. haha

Yes, they just have to remove the screws of the sensor on the 645Z, remove the sensor, put the new sensor just announced in the future and that they have not seen yet, put back screws, and "hop", the new 645Z ii is ready ! ^^

At Pentax they have magicians and not engineers, it won't take a year to do that, clearly

If it can't do 16k full-sensor readout, 4:2:2, 120fps, have clean hdmi output, have zebra strips, have 5 types of S-Log, have 800 focus points (400 cross type), and have 12800 iso look like 1600 iso, it's shit!

And if it does, it won't have a full video-oriented lens line

I find the possibility of a new 645 intriguing - they'll have to do it eventually, or give up on the system; but without a hint, which can't come earlier than CP+ IMO, I don't dare to hope.

The specifications of these sensors as made public by Sony Semiconductors:

https://www.sony-semicon.co.jp/products_en/IS/sensor2/application/index.html

There are two of them, both back-side illuminated (BSI, BI in the diagram above), both with a pixel pitch of 3.76µ:

- IMX461: 33x44mm, 100MPix
- IMX411: 40.4x53,7mm, 150Mpix; two versions, Bayer and monochrome.

Emphasis is on frame rate, both for stills and video:

The full sensor readout of 6fps at 14-bit is pretty impressive. It will take some serious support hardware in a 645 body to make that happen. Redesigned shutter, mirror, powerful image processor, massive buffer, and UHS-II or better. If Ricoh does go with this sensor, I wonder if Ricoh will actually push it to its limits, or scale it back to a 3 fps camera.

100 MP images at 6 frames per second.. How much with the internal buffer memory cost?

And it might be smart to invest in hard drive and memory manufacturers if this becomes a common trend.

Of course, no interest in boosting MF fps.
There will be more at stake with taking care of the lens line-up, and reinvest seriously in new designs for the megapixel race.
