I watched this yesterday and left straight after his Pentax content. I don't think he got it right either.

I'm not one for getting too focused on gear, but for some reason he (and no doubt many online entities) seem focused on FF yet fail to consider the age of the K3 or the 645Z. Yet these are the two areas that are most in need of a new release and would logically receive one to stay relevant in those 'systems'. To me this seems most logical when you consider the APSC focus Pentax had for many years, and the credibility the Z gave them among many pro/serious photographers in medium format.

But to quote Doris Day: 'what will be will be'.

He's got this aloof, tired, flat face when he "discusses" Pentax ... time for a snooze.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I like Tony Northrup. I don't agree with everything he says, and he occasionally gets some things just plain wrong. So do most of us ("to err is human" ), but since he's broadcasting YouTube videos to a wide audience, he's (quite understandably) open to a lot of criticism. In the main, though, I think he's literate, informative (if slightly opinionated) and very entertaining - and far better than some of his peers. I don't know whether he's right or wrong about Pentax (or any of the other brands)... I don't even care, actually. I take this video at face value for what it is - just one man's well-presented opinions (and nothing more) of the year ahead

Tony Northrup definitely doesn't have a pulse on things Pentax. Then again, probably none of us really do either. Other than the DFA 50 and DFA 85, who knows what next year holds?

I saw that yesterday and was surprised he mentioned a K1 II and not a replacement for the K3II. Only time will tell about any of these Youtube predictions, I'm sure in December of 18 we will hear from the ones who got it right patting themselves on the back.

I agree - but I did leave a comment of his video to tell him he was wrong in this instance, a couple of days ago

2018 ?: Canon 7D Mk III, Sony a7 III & a7S III, Fuji X-H1, Pentax K-1 II, Panasonic GH5s - YouTube
l'm not convinced that he is totally wrong. Their release of new full-frame Pentax lenses is very slow - perhaps they believed all the complaining here and had viewed long-term Pentax owners as primary source of potential K-1 owners; in any case, I don't expect a K-1ii quite yet ... but I'm also starting to question whether we will ever see another "flagship" APS-C camera. With the K-1's ability to do crop, they may expect the K-1 to be the "flagship", period. I'm still expecting something unexpected around CP+ time, but it may be a total surprise.

Who is that guy? I've see some other videos of his and he just rabbles on. Is he a photographer or just some guy with a youtube channel that reports on things he reads online?
