I was out with my K-1, K-3 and Panasonic ZS100

The Panasonic definitely held it's own...

Some comparison images...

Set 1 Spruce grouse (K-3 with DA*60-250 and 1.4 TC vs ZS100)

Fork lake, images from all three cameras....

IN this test, the ZS100 absolutely kicked the K-3 with the 18-135s butt. But I didn't have the lens hood for the 18-135 and it was washed out.

Spruce Bard Walk Trail

Beaver Pond Creek , K-1 and ZS100

Second day with my ZS100... and it's still impressive.

Welcome to the convenient side of life. Should suit your travels through the park! I have the ZS200 and find it very useful. I do lower the noise reduction settings a bit though.
I am about to embark on an experiment between my Panasonic GM5 and a purchased 45-175mm, and the ZS200. Should be interesting.

Not owning a cell phone I needed a camera to keep in my pocket. I do have a Pentax Q system but the camera even with a 01 prime will not fit my pocket. I got an Olympus TG-6 which fits nice but the picture quality is not great and I figured it was a price to pay to get a camera in my pocket.

So I read about the Sony RX100's and ended up buying a Canon G5X mark 2. I am really happy with this camera, puts a whole lot of fun in my photography.

For this type of image, because I'm used to larger format images, I look at images like that and think "over sharpened". That couple with my current refusal to spend time learning how to set up the camera more to my liking is not a good combination. Used more like the wpresto image above it, I find the results more acceptable. There's some serous image cooking going on in these cameras.

If you don't think I "cook" my images, you haven't been in my kitchen. Come to think of it, you haven't.

It comes down your own personal likes for these small cameras, I am very happy with the photo results. I can now put a small camera in my jacket pocket and go off road on my small trail bike. I used to take bigger cameras and they must take a beating on the back of my bike, G5X/2

A Christmas tree, overall and close-up, taken with a Sony RX100 II at Winterthur where they had an exhibit of props, especially costumes from the TV series "The Crown" in addition to their traditional Xmas displays. This tree was decorated to celebrate "The Crown."

I prefer to cook images from my TZ100 myself - I can't remember the last time I'd used the in-camera JPEG. The most annoying thing about these small sensors is their poor dynamic range - typically only some 4 2/3 EV for the TZ100 - which does not leave much room for serious RAW cooking.

Fun toys though : Flickriver: Photoset 'Panasonic TZ100 / ZS100' by kh1234567890

I took the ZS100 on the days dog walk, it sure feels like you are travelling light. No weight at all.

ƒ 2.8 and still some serious depth of field.

How about some serious macro? Again, DoF to die for. This time at ƒ3.7.
