If I was to buy the A7III I think will use it with three lenses that are below 700g. It will be nice to see how my Samyang 85 f1.4 will do on that.
Easily managed by handling large setups by the lens predominately and letting the adapter focus the camera.

If they built better cameras in the first place, mirrorless buyers wouldn't wouldn't to wait for replacements so often.

I think you're going to have to try harder than that, Surfar!

Sales of those will be negligible in statistical terms. They're premium products.

i'm a lil confused with sigma lenses for sony.
sigma already has 1 135mm lens that works with an adapter on sony. great.
now they are getting a new lens without the need for the adapter? i thought it was the old lens they are adding the adapter into and releasing it?

also, Manny Ortiz, in one of his videos showed a sony adapter that allows 'ANY' manual focus lens to act like an autofocus lens. any idea if that lens will work with samyang/rokinon lenses too? sure, the adapter may not be 100% accurate, and it may be a lil slow. but the throw on samyang lenses is LONG and manual focusing on 1.4-2.8 is a challenge

Your numbers (have you got them?) won't add up, Surfar.

As beholder3 reports:

January CIPA figures show that the industry still hasn't seen the worst of it.

Shipments of DSLR units in January 2018 versus January 2017 (worldwide): -17,4%
Shipments of mirrorless units in January 2018 versus January 2017 (worldwide): -22,4%

Fewer and fewer customers.

Mirrorless shrinking was worst in Japan (-27,4%) and Europe (-30,2%). Lenses worldwide down by -10,1%

Have a look at the thread that shows the figures for the last 5-6 years...its down here in the dungeon, monthly figures...well,they can fluctuate(which ways the wind blowing today)...monthlys dont indicate any trend...

Were a mid range Fuji body and an entry level Olympus body in 2017

Entry level FF Pentax in 2016(possibly upgraded for A$700 in 2018)

Prior to those 2 years, i just cant remember....used gear doesnt count!

(Laughs)

Not your *personal* numbers, Surfar ... your numbers showing that 22 percent of all mirrorless sales worldwide are equal to preorders for these top of the line MILCs.

Please be specific then Claka,my numbers are not indicative of the market though...ha ha

However...IF,last years CIPA numbers are indicative(may just be a random year) then M/L is growing at a reasonable rate...

AND i'll not be counting the K-1ii upgrade in my personals(thats if i spend the $$$).

Hmmm... Your infographic shows unit sales of mirrorless basically flat for 4 years straight and then a single one year bump in 2017. And now the January 2018 data shows mirrorless slumping back into pre-2017 sales levels. It's not much of a trend.

And it's really hard to believe the "DSLRs are dead" chanting when they still outsell mirrorless by almost 2:1 despite 8 years of Sony flinging e-Mount cameras at the market.

I know some people love mirrorless for various reasons. And yet the market data shows that more people love DSLRs for various other reasons.

And even if you've convinced yourself that mirrorless grew in the past, there's literally always an "end" in every "trend". Eager extrapolators always get it wrong.

No, in post 67, you told us you had "preorder numbers."

That's a huge claim.

Oh dear, i suppose M/L people are well enough informed to know that the new tech was/is coming and its EXTREMELY good and they didnt buy some old models.

People that can use a calculator can see by the figures over the last 5 years of sales of ILCs that M/L is the growing market every single year for the last 5.DSLR had 100%..now its less than 2/3rds...Why do you think CaNik are about to enter the FF mirrorless sector?
