Good Q, definitely the slots that are there work with the corresponding cards..its strange to have 2 different ones though? From memory the A9 and A7r3 have the 2+1 thingo too. Panasonic and Fuji have UHS2 for both of their slots.
Yes UHSII cards will work in UHSI slots but at UHSI speeds. I have used UHSII cards in both Sony and Pentax UHS I slots.

The salesman told me, "Sony A7 III and Sony A9 have the very best AF". I tried indoors, Sony A7 III with 28-70 f5.6 kit next to my K1 with DFA 28-105 f5.6, next to Fuji XT2 and kit lens. I was very surprised, both Pentax K1+28-105 and Fuji XT2 were faster to lock focus than the Sony A7 III. The Fuji XT2 was clearly the fastest of the three. So, I don't what to believe about what people say... I think the best is to try before you buy.

Did the sales man tell you the price of the 3 lenses you have mentioned?...Well if not I will.

The Fuji and Pentax cost over double what the $$$ony does! Both are very good(only own the Pentax).

Now, if you compared the Fuji 16-50 and Pentax 18-55 with the $$$ony, you will find all struggle in poor light(i own the Fuji and Pentax).

All of the cheap lenses go OK outdoors in good light(although i've only watched Youtube of the $$$ony)

Its good to compare Apples with Apples, not Oranges!

Now, i'm not sure the guy you encountered would qualify as a '"salesman", maybe as a shop assistant?...I couldnt imagine demonstrating a camera with a lens suited to good light, in poor light?...Surely,said "shop assistant" knows to put a faster lens on the camera??? But he didnt!

As for the "kit lens" on the Fuji...dont be fooled by the 18-55,its F2.8 to F4,fitting for a camera as good as the weathersealed Fujis(Xt2,Xpro2,Xh-1).Just a shame its not WR.

The Sony 28-70 is 370 on Amazon and the Pentax 28-105 is 496. I would consider both to be "kit lenses" with the Pentax being slightly more expensive based on its having a little additional range. (the 18-55 is not a full frame lens and isn't particularly usable on a K-1, so hard to compare).

usable from 22/24/26? from memory, almost 2 years ago when i tested it....But its not about the application, its about comparing the lens quality. The lenses(fuji 16-50 & Pentax 18-55) are similar quality to $$$ony 28-70.

The Fuji 18-55 and Pentax 28-105 are a higher level "kit" lens...to me they are all just lenses,so what if they are sold with a camera.

Now, the A7iii is a highly capable camera(2000U$) why would it be sold with a U$200 lens?

I would be surprised if the Sony A7III af is faster than Pentax K1.
We all know pentax is a little bit behind in the af department.
As I have understood the af of the A7III is one of the best on the market.

So this is a little bit surprising.

By the way which one will you get, the A6500 or A7III if you are just getting or thinking into Sony system as a wedding photograher?

Trying for ourselves is better than reading the reviews. You never know how biased is the review. Maybe, A7 III is faster in good light, I don't know, I have tried indoor with reasonable light from windows but of course dim light. I was surprised that the K1 with DFA28-105 is zippy.

Don't believe everything the salesman tells you. The A7III has the same number of AF point and the same processor, but AF speed on a mirrorless is highly dependent on the sensor and the A7III has a much slower sensor. The A9 when using the electronic shutter is reading the sensor 60 times per-second to check and adjust AF and can capture up to 20fps. The sensor in the A7III is not a stacked sensor like the A9. The A7III is reading and adjusting focus less than 20 times per-second according to one test. The A7III does have better DR and slightly better color than the A9. The A7III AF is still better than the K-1, but its not the same as the A9. If that were the case Sony would end up discontinuing the A9. My Sony A7II AF is slightly better than my K-1, and not even in the same league as the A9. I imagine the A7III has AF that is on par with the 5DIV or D810 but I have not used one. I will probably just buy a second A9 or wait and hope they make an A9r.

Ah!!! now I understand. Yes, it is not the same sensor. I remember the A9 has a stacked sensor with real time transfer. The A7 III uses a conventional 24Mp with addition of an array for autofocus. That largely explains the performance and price difference between the A7 iii and the A9.

The A7III is reading and adjusting focus less than 20 times per-second in bright light. The frame rate will drop in dim light. One technological disadvantage of using the main sensor for PDAF is that the main imaging sensor's pixels are so tiny. The PDAF in a DSLR can use larger, more sensitive photodiodes clocked at a much higher frame rate.

I use Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB & 128GB cards in both the A9 and the K-1. I have never filled up the buffer on the A9 in real works shooting so I don't see a reason to buy the more expensive UHS-II cards at this time. On the K-1 there is no reason to buy fast cards since it can't write fast enough to take advantage. I was constantly filling the buffer on the K-1 and waiting for it to clear.

DXO have released a rating for the $$$ony A7iii...96 which puts it up there with lots of pricier bodies.

I don't live in Oz. B and H Photo has it for 373, Sony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens SEL2870 B&H Photo Video

The Pentax 28-105 is 496 there, Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6 ED DC WR Lens 21297 B&H

As to price and availability in other countries, I have no idea, but biz engineer is in Germany, so maybe you could do a search to see the cost there. Certainly once you tack on the cost of a plane ticket to Australia for him, any cost savings travelling there would go away.
