Edit, I did miss it was in the Non Pentax area, but hey, Photos of surf are photos of surf hey.....

Here's an old one that popped up on my facebook feed the other day. Really must get back out there to do some more, and try out the FA*600/f4 when time permits.

From the Quicksilver Pro a few years ago. X-posted from my old thread.

Is it just surfing, or are bodyboarding and SUP shots also allowed?

Yes,thats riding waves...and the people who do both those activities may do "normal" surfing one day or have done it in the past.In the early days b4 Body boards we had Paipo boards...they were timber construction with a couple of small fins,we used flippers(swim fins) to help us catch waves.Same sensation as bodyboarding.I've owned a SUP,didnt gel with me but a photo of people enjoying the ocean is still worthwhile.

Sorry, it was the Quicksilver Roxy Pro 2012. Snapper Rocks. My feet were cut to pieces from climbing over the rocks to get a spot.

Just an FYI in case you're not keeping an eye on the low tracking south off the east coast.

Some big surf is forecast for SE QLD this Wednesday and Thursday.

On Thursday I'm hoping to make the 6am swell at either Tea Tree, Noosa Heads (11.5ft) or Snapper Rocks (8ft).

South of the border looks to have similar conditions down to at least Ballina.

Some info on the weather system too:

Queensland on cyclone watch as flood clean-up continues in state's north

A tropical low in the Coral Sea is continuing to move towards Queensland's south-east, but the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) says it has not yet intensified into a cyclone. The system is about 1,300 kilometres north-east of the Sunshine Coast and will keep tracking south today.

Forecaster Rick Threlfall said the system would move close to the south-east Queensland coast on Wednesday, bringing strong winds and dangerous surf.

"It is going to come fairly close to the south-eastern corner of Queensland," he said.

"It'll still be around about 300 kilometres offshore during Thursday and Friday, but we will start to feel the effects of that during tomorrow, particularly later on in the day on the Sunshine Coast and then into the evening on the Gold Coast we'll see the surf really starting to pick up."

Mr Threlfall said a dangerous surf warning had been issued for Wednesday, with forecasts of abnormally high tides.

"We're looking at possibly 3 to 4 metre waves getting right onto the beach itself, and we'll also get fairly close to the highest tide of the year on the high tide tomorrow morning, but possibly even higher tides on Thursday morning," he said.

"It may cause a bit of erosion and could cause a few problems for the preparations for the Commonwealth Games and even for the big surf event that's coming up on the Gold Coast as well, so not the best timing for this system to come down towards the south-eastern corner of Queensland.

"It is going to be pretty messy Wednesday and Thursday, with strong, possibly gale-force, winds."

TL; DR?

Those 8 footers are few and far between!...The low is in the right position, maybe the swell arrives overnight. Then it takes a couple of days to get to my area.
