But can you imagine the pain and confusion if we had to do the math on all the different sensor sizes and actual mm sized of the lenses on point and shoot cameras? I don't. It is a 24-200 for me and the IV is a 24-70 for any reasonable usage.

To be fair to Sony, they actually put the correct focal length range on the lens... Like you, I'm OK with thinking of this as a 24-200mm (equivalent) in terms of field of view, or as an f/2.8-4.5 in terms of light gathering... but definitely not a 24-200mm f/2.8-4.5 lens...

I tend to think mainly about field of view with mm. I look to f-stop for light. I like it simple.
