Yes, Sammy stated earlier this year that they wanted a bigger slice of the "sensor action".

It was 2014ish that the superb NX-1 came on the market, closely followed by the NX 500(baby brother).

Its a waste of good tech for this stuff not to be utilised,Fuji is rumoured to be putting 26 or 28 mpx in the XT-3.I wonder where the sensor is coming from???

This is for Smartphone for now.

Samsung officially said they are developing a new CMOS sensor technology for mobile photography (smartphones) that allows better pixel isolation and hence improves light sensitivity and color fidelity. Samsung calles it the “ISOCELL Plus” technology.

Rumour ONLY @ this stage

Its been bandied about that Samsung are making FF sensors and will sell to all the Japanese Camera makers commencing early 2019

No specific details at this stage.

It was also hinted the Fuji XT3 sensor is a result of the Fuji/Samsung collaboration.

Perhaps RI could source a lower cost/higher capability sensor than what $$$ony will provide?...I hope so.

If this is true maybe Ricoh can jump into the action with them (buy some sensors from them) & possibly do some collabs with them, especially since Pentax & Samsung did some work with each other not that long ago.

But only if the Samsung sensors turn out to be equal to or better than Sony's. Last time Pentax hitched a ride with Samsung, the results were not impressive.

Thats a while ago, plenty of water under the bridge...and wasnt it Sammy riding along doing the hitching?

Yes,however...the sensors for the cameras evolve from the Smartphone sensors by $$$ony.Samsung has expertise there, as well as the Tech they developed for Apsc after they unhitched from Pentax.

I'd like to see Sammy involved...it would see $$$ony having competition in the camera and sensor fields.Competition breeds progress and thats a major positive for image makers.

Looks like the sensor in the Panasonic FF is made by Samsung.

The effective pixel is 28.2 million pixels and the crop sensor. You can shoot up to 6K when playing movie. Supports 10bit 120 frames. h.265 codec support.

In the case of Pentax, it is packaged up to isp. Fuji will receive only sensor …

It is said that the planned delivery price will be 70% of the equivalent Sony sensor.”

Three years ago they had a better sensor than what Pentax could get from Sony

Samsung getting back into the game would be huge. It's interesting that Panasonic and Fuji have been working on sensor technology together for a couple of years. It looks like Fuji and Samsung have been working together and Panasoinc and Samsung have been working together. I have not seen anything that suggests that all three are collaborating.
