Weird and Fascinating lens - another interesting idea from Laowa.

Putting it here because I don't know if it's available in K mount: the Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe lens.

II was just about to post this

In the introductions section, someone from Laowa just joined the forums and introduced themselves, and in the conversation said this is now available for Pentax. So I saw there wasn't a thread for it yet.

To me that's the best macro lens ever!

The intro video talks about the possibilities.

New member - PentaxForums.com is where a Laowa person says Pentax was now included.

The last time I saw a lens like that one was owned and used by a plumber who tried to check if there was something stuck down the toilet hole. Anyone can of course imagine other ways of using that lens.

This type lens (relay lens or boresight) is used quite a bit in the movie industry and also as a periscope (right angle) variation for special effects and some nature shots (e.g. Star Wars death star torpedo runs).

I would love one, I think I’d use it a ton, but can’t justify the cost with the hubby.

Too funny. If only people I flip them for would pay me (my kids are the beneficiaries for this skill and my youngest is heading back to college in a few weeks)

I was about to write - 'I can't wait for a cheap Chinese clone of this lens'.

But then I realized ... those days are probably over.

The same goes for me. I will probably wait and see its price in the second-hand market.

It's geared towards the cine market, which is the reason why it's so expensive.

The cine lenses are saving some companies from the red line, I think...

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I didn't think they actually blew up a Death Star in the making of Star Wars. Wasn't that all CGI?

(I also heard that none of Apollo 13 was actually filmed in space, but I discount that).

A clever chap on an unrelated forum I'm a member of has the signature line: "Stanley Kubrick was hired to fake the Apollo moon landings, but his perfectionism made him film it on location on the Moon."
