New Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD

I thought I'd post about this new lens, as there's not much online buzz about it. It's the first newly-released lens I've bought. I was keen to get my hands on it because I hate lugging heavy lenses like my 24-70 2.8 when I am out shooting landscape.

Anyway, I am very pleased with how sharp it is - much better than my 24-70. The only flaw is softness in the extreme corners, but it becomes negligible when you stop down >f5.6.

And it's nicely light and compact.

Here's an image with centre, extreme left and right borders, and extreme lower left corner crops at 100%.

This on a K-1 would be such a winning combination.

It won't fit. But the FA 20-35 will!

haha I suspect the new Tamron is a far better performer though and much wider. Just openly daydreaming that it somehow finds it's way to K mount.. be it a Tamron lens or a Pentax lens..

This is one lens that interests me for travel, backpacking and in the kayak. I would have like 15-35ish as a little brother to the 15-30 f/2.8 as I use 15mm often.

The older version of this lens (A03 - same code name as their 28-200) is already very good. Quite hard to spot, but very usefull ! I heard the Sigma 17-35 can be good too.

I've used the 17-35 for 2 months, and it's really a keeper. And i'm quite hard on what lens i find good.

Yes, the 15-30/2.8 is too rich for my blood,
but a Pentax version of this lens would get my attention.
I love the DA 20-40 on APS-C,
and this could be like an FF version of that.
