Vivitar 70-210mm Macro Focusing PK A/R lens adapter to Canon EF mount

I bought a regular PK to EF mount adapter for my Vivitar 70-210mm lens to be used in a Canon camera. However, I found the the flange and a pin that stick out at the end of lens is total tall. When it put onto Canon camera, it does not fit as the flange and pin are too high. Did I buy the wrong adapter? What kind of adapter that I should buy?

I need advise from the experts out there. Thank you all.

A lot of Vivitar lenses have a flange like that. You should be able to find other threads on it in this section which will have photos of similar lenses. The flange can be cut off so it's shaped like a normal Pentax flange. The best way to do that is to remove the flange from the lens, usually unscrewing a few tiny screws in the side of the mount. Then you can pull out just the black part, either black anodized aluminum or plastic. Then cut off the excess flange. Aluminum flanges will need some filing and blackening the shiny parts. Then reinstall and you're done.

Thanks Just1MoreDave for your professional view point.
Can I conclude that there is not PK A/R mount to EF mount in the market place as PK A/R and not like the normal Pentax K mount, right?
I am not a handy guy that will do the cutting off the flange and pin for myself. Should you know that there is an exact PK A/R to EF mount to Canon camera, please let me know so that I can solve this issue.

Thank you for your kind assistance/inputs.
