Nikon to have IS in body

Nikon DSLR with Built-in Image Stabilization « NEW CAMERA

One of Pentax's major strong points in the DSLRs market may now have competition.

So many patents featuring in-body stabilization technology floating about today. Lawyers field day.

I thought Z mount mirrorless was the direction every new Nikon was going to take. What's the actual path here?

I think the Nikon path is simply 'catch up with Sony'.

The most positive aspect here, in my opinion, is Nikon's recognition that DSLRs have a viable market despite the enthusiasm in many quarters for MILCs. Most of us Pentaxians have long said as much. Personally, I see significant benefits in both types of body, and I'd be extremely sad to see one go because of the other...

Nikon and Canon have the resources to produce both DSLR and MILC, and I've been expecting them to do both. In fact, each company may start making two releases of each camera - a MILC variant and a DSLR variant - where the guts are virtually the same. It is said that some of the recent Canon MILC's were designed by using an appropriate DSLR as a base and modifying it.

I can definitely say that if Nikon would have implemented IBIS into their DSLR bodies, I would have never taken a glance at Pentax. I would have bought some kind of Nikon DSLR with IBIS instead of my K-50 bodies. My almost perfect camera body would have been a D7200 with IBIS. I'm hoping for something similar with the K-3II replacement, but if Nikon implements IBIS into their future DSLR bodies, that will also be very tempting for me. Hmmmm.......

Lots of things are happening in the camera industry. My wait for the K-3II replacement will be good. Lots of things could happen from now until then & maybe the "camera dust" will settle a bit more by then. I guess good things come to those who wait? Hahaha!
