OK, I confess, I have a Sony A100 but in my defence it is converted to IR. I bought it recently, preloved/experienced and since I got it the battery drain has been awful. I used a new Duracell today and got 50 shots and it is down to less than half. Any ideas?

The Duracell one is new. I am going to fully discharge it then charge it again and hopefully a few cycles will improve things. The other batteries are old/cheap so I don't expect much from them, I just wondered if there was a secret setting that was eating my batteries

On another point, it is converted to IR and the AF has been recalibrated (badly lol) if I upgrade the firmware will it affect anything?
