Watching the guy casually waving this $10000 camera about all the time in the video, lens off, leaving the 100MP sensor wide open to crud and dust, made it not so OK to me.

I'm looking forward to seeing the benefits of 200MB, 100MP, 16-bit files in the hands of most photographers... I'm sure the camera's amazing, and I'm equally sure that 99% of photographers don't need it and won't benefit from it. Impressive camera, though!

Yeah I'm curious on those large files too... 100mb files are nothing, the current 50mp Fuji raw files come to 110mb

You may export the RAW to 16bits TIFF to allow more room for the photo print company to adjust the file for their printer/paper. They say, TIFF is allowed and the maximum size on their service is 1GB per file

Compared to the Phase One models, the GFX100 is an entry level model, a bit like the Canon Kiss is to a Pentax K1.

When the pixel shift firmware update comes there will be lots of data to work with.

One of biggest things seems to be that IBIS and video, as well as AF, as ofcourse is that big file. Is suppose that casual street shooters/enthusiasts, and what he said about reporters will propably pass on this..

Heck, that's my thought on the K-1...

Judging by the sample shots available on the interwebs so far, it produces quite a flat colour rendering very different from the usual Fuji style. Presumably it's designed to output neutral looking raw files to give maximum flexibility to professional users, who will of course have highly skilled post production specialists working alongside them.

I think some very rich amateurs will be taking a lot of very bland photos with this camera, as it will expose any lack of talent at both shooting and processing ruthlessly.

Just to be clear, I wasn't criticising the camera. Just observing that it will expose any lack of talent in those using it. Same way a 1980s era Porsche 911 will expose any lack of talent in a driver by throwing him off the road backwards.

That's also the first thing I noticed when looking at sample photographs.

Yep, I would also say it's likely not a camera aimed at producing gorgeous OOC Jpegs, especially knowing that the RAW output data is coded over 16bits.

I'm even surer that 99% of photographers won't buy it either. Heck, if the Fujifilm GFX100 managed to grab a 1% share (in units) of the ILC market, that means Fujifilm would sell more than 100,000 units per year, some five to ten times more than the total number of medium format cameras and backs currently sold each year. People at Fujifilm's would dance in the streets until the wee hours of the morning!

Its an interesting camera with some pretty amazing technology. I can see it finding a home with commercial and advertising photographers, and even some fine art/digital art photographers who need really good files for serious manipulation. I would love to play with one for a few weeks, but I just don't have a need for one. The 24MP A9 files are more than enough for what I do and they are much easier on my hard drive. I'm running 8 cores at 4ghz and 32GB of RAM and LR/PS is still not as fast as I want with 24MP files.
