Originally posted by LeRolls ... figured that maybe Sigma lenses play a little nicer with their camera bodies. I received the Sigma today and I have to say that the build quality is quite nice. Even though it is quite small compared to the previous Sigma 85 it is still noticeably bigger than the Pentax 85 which is unfortunate but manageable..
Gosh, that is a bit larger than I would have expected. It's not obvious from static images but looking at Youtube reviews I cans see that it's going to be a relative beast on your pretty darn compact FP.
BTW. I looked at the FP in more detail after you mentioned it. Some really positive comments from those buying it but I think for for me it would be far too small, particularly since I've taken a liking to a couple of the recently released larger and heavier lenses. I'm guessing that's why the most highly rated MILC's this year are trending larger than years past? I imagine those small and light bodies that were the "thing" would require adaption to a different shooting stance and style to use 'em with 15+ glass elements hanging in front of them.
(Edit: I see that lens has 14 elements, still heavy tho)
I guess the days of the great glass in a compact package, Ie Pentax Limited form, is gone.
In all honesty tho I don't think it matters to the finished image what camera you use. Everything I see from you on every camera body you put to use has been impressively lighted and captured. Consistently great stuff. Proof that talent trumps gear every time.
