Tokina used to name FX their 24x36 lenses and DX their APS-C lenses. Maybe this was deemed to be too nikonish? Whatever the reason, their latest 24x36 lenses have been qualified as 'FF' and this one is the first to be qualified as 'CF'.

By the way, reading CF makes think of carbon fiber...

Another detail revealed by the pictures published so far (see the upper left corner of the picture below): the Tokina atx-i 11-16mm f/2.8 CF includes a push/pull AF/MF clutch mechanism.

Each and every autofocus Tokina SLR lens includes such a feature, but one: the Tokina opera 50mm f/1.4 FF, which is a rebadged HD Pentax-D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW (this explaining that).

Zeiss use the CF acronym for their Batis 40mm f/2 announced one year ago, which is not a macro lens but the minimum focusing distance of which is 24cm, which is indeed close for a 40mm lens.

That example I didn't know! Most lenses I have or have seen say "Macro" for anything above a 1:5 or so ratio. Older ones tend to say "Close Focusing Zoom" and the like.

Not much more than the previous DX-ii version. A friend of mine paid... 420€ a year and a half ago, and it was on sale on Amazon.de back then. MSRP in BnH is actually lower for the new version ($449 vs $499, although the older one is currently discounted to $379).

The new one looks so much more beautiful, honestly.

Only for lenses produced after not-sure-when in the 90s (the ones with in-lens AF motors). I have two screwdrive AF Tokinas in front of me and they sure don't have the clutch. Quick shift is sorely missed
