Both B&H and Roberts each sent me an announcement email. Apparently this is a camera for 'action' - "only" 20MP; it will also use the new CFExpress card.

For this kind of situations 1Dx and D5 are built. Fast af, build like a tank, 16fps (or 20fps in live view), a buffer that almost never be filled...

What's interesting for me at this moment by looking at the videos about 1Dx Mark III are the live view specs. It seems that Canon has 20fps with both electronic and mechanical shutter in this camera. This means that they already have the technology for their next flagship mirrorless. Sony A9 II has 20fps with electronic shutter and only 10fps with mechanical shutter. And that touch af button seems blazing fast compared to the traditional joystick.

2020 became interesting in terms of mirrorless for Canon.

The RF system will jump a level with the new sensors,HI-Res model wont be far away(next month maybe).R mk 2 is rumoured for later in 2020.

I've seen the lens patents that are coming and they are impressive too.

Thanks for posting that YT, its shot at one of the most photographed surf locations on the earth. The ProTour have an annual event there every August.

A patent for a function/feature/component does not mean it destined for a shipping product. For that matter large companies regularly patent things they have no intention of using themselves anyway. Keep that in mind when you see such-and-such has been granted one. Simply applying for one matters even less.

That's right, those patents that match the lens road map may end up like some other companies roadmap...non existent!

I think Canon will add a few more L lenses to the RF mount in the first half of 2020, with another surprize lens (like the 28-70mm f2 was) and then it will start to release some affordable f1.8 prime lenses. If rummors are true, more than 10 lenses will be released this year.

The RF lenses released by Canon are simply amazing. I dislike the weight of the RF 28-70mm f2L lens, yet is the most rented RF lens by me in the last 3 months. I simply love it.

Only have 35mm at this stage but my EF glass works just as well.

A vario 70-300 is one patent that will be interesting for me and the f1.8 primes that will come soon enough.
