I have to admit, this camera is quite intriguing. The size thing I don't think is really an issue for a lot of people. For example, I am a guy with fairly slender hands and also there are a lot of guys and girls with smaller hands. Personally, I won't be going for it as if I ever get a Sony camera to replace my D500 it will be one of the cameras in the A9 line, but I can see that this camera would be a great one for travel.

I don't think it will Sony's most popular camera but with the money they've allocated to their camera division, they can afford these niche models.

Say, this camera is sub $3,000 and Knew approaching $2,500 . . . . it probably would catch my attention.

The question is always with the lenses.

No matter how small the body is, the lenses couldn't be too small.

A small body with big lenses would be a worse nightmare.
If low light performance of the sensor is superb which it is reasonable to expect, you may get away with not having fast lenses.

The size, quality, and general usability of the EVF seems to be in question, and from here it looks quite small. That and the Sony UI/ergonomics doesn't seem great... the size does, though.

Being able to get back to a full frame camera the size of the MX with a fully functional k-mount, mirrorless or not, seems more and more possible with cameras like this and the Sigma fp.

All indications are the 7c will be around 2K U$ but may come in slightly lower. Its an updated A7lll with only 1 slot but better AF and a swing around screen.Probably(?) the newer menu that comes with A7Slll.Knew could be 1499ish but maybe 1599 on release, any higher would be silly.

The EVFs in A7lll and A6600 are 2.3million dots,I would expect similar.

If it comes with the updated A7Slll menu(probably) and touchscreen access to menu(probably) then thats a huge improvement.Ergos are an individual thing.

Hardly. Nice though it looks, the Sony is a mirroless camera with EVF. Ricoh's design philosophy with Pentax is aimed at those who value the experience of shooting a reflex camera with an optical viewfinder - and, if Ricoh's claims are anything to go by, the viewfinder on the K-New is something special.

That's what I think as well, not so much from the perspective of price points but more from the fact that A7c is probably not aimed at the same segment of the market. Knew seems like to me is geared towards existing Pentax user base with DA limited already in their hands. I don't think it is a camera that tries to entice non Pentax user to get into Pentax system. I doubt anyone thinking about getting Knew will look at this camera and find it attractive. I do think that people who are thinking of migrating to FF sensor camera from smaller sensor sized camera may find this intriguing though. Sony has had a head start in lens development for FF mirrorless and their line up is rather diverse in that regards.

They are scratched often while I sink in my couch watching TV so that won't bother me too much.

The newer Sony EVF's seem quite good. Their EVF technology is progressing quite well.

What I am waiting for is some voice control in cameras. Kind of Alexa, Cortana or Google Assistant for mirrorless.

Just imagine saying to the camera: 'Hey Google - track that bird", or "switch the focus to that guy in the red shirt", or "tag that last photo as a keeper", all while never having to take your eye off the viewfinder. That would be nice.

C is for Compact.

From time to time I read about people wanting FF at the size of the old film smaller sized bodies.

Their choice is $ony!

Everything becomes official in a bit over a day.

Impressive engineering.

FF, in-body shake reduction, decent EVF, 4K video, hot shoe, 10 fps shooting, 690 point AF with eye-AF, fully flippy touch screen, MIC + headphone jacks, USB-C, full-size battery with 780 shots, and just 509g.
