It looks like Sony released the K-01 successor...

FF sensor, EVF, f--- screen

Hands-on with the new Sony a7C: Digital Photography Review

Sony A7C - 124 x 71 x 60 mm, 509g
K-01 - 122 x 79 x 58 mm, 561g

If you took the flash off the K-01 they would be even closer in size and weight!

Hmmph. I was hoping the K-01 crowd would comment on this, since it has similar dimensions and features K-01 users have been asking for - hence my posting this in the K-01 subforum. Oh well...

I'd buy it if it was K-mount.

Nope.

"the a7C feels incredibly solid, thanks to what's called a magnesium alloy monocoque construction"

That's almost K-01 quality and heat-sink capacity, about double the weight of a NEX.

Oh, and yes, it's full frame.

Sometimes, you have to adapt.

I’d consider myself part of the K-01 fan club and this is interesting. Of course, my beef with Sony is the menus and interface options (knobs, buttons and stuff). If Sony would private label this for Pentax and let them tweak it for their specs, count me in.....

But it's $1800, Cipher!

I don't think there are many similarities to the K-01.

If it isn't k-mount, it has little importance to the "K-01 crowd".

Of course, the Sony has many differences.

The point of the comparison is that the general body size and shape are very similar. The K-01 was savagely attacked for having that shape.

It was ahead of its time, ... though I could never accept its lack of a VF.

I find it pretty funny that on DPR there are criticisms of the new Sony that it is too small, yet when the K-01 was released it was often criticized for being too large for a MILC.

Sigma fp - 112.6 x 69.9 x 45.3 mm, 422g (with battery)

So Sigma did beat Sony too it, with the lightest and smallest FF camera
