Look at the size of this thing

No doubt it weighs less than the equivalent pro DSLR, but the hype around a comparatively diminutive camera body compared to one with a mirror has some limitations if you want functionality and for people to be able to get their mitts around the thing.

Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera rumored specifications - Photo Rumors

I wonder which way Sony and Canon will go in this market point?

So is it a flagship or a boat anchor???

It's bigger-is-better "pro" designs like that which caused me to pick Pentax over Canikon in the first place.

Maybe it's a subjective/personal Goldilocks issue: some cameras are too small for comfort and ease of use of pro-level control layouts (Sony/Fuji/MFT); some cameras are just too big (the top-of-line Canikons); and some cameras (the K-1) are just right.

No idea of $ony but the Canon R1 is in development,i wonder if Nikon will be around or with JIP when the Z9 is ready.

Its over 2 years since Nikon "realigned mirrorless" down to 1 card slot and substandard AF,I suppose their devotees can wait as well.

For scale, the lens is 77.5mm diameter x 88.5mm long.

I would estimate the height at maybe 11cm and width the same (yes, it is square). That makes its size somewhat smaller than a K-P with grip.

FWIW, I think it is probably a little smaller (volume-wise) than the K-1 sans grip.

Yesterday the question was asked who would pay $6K for the new Zeiss camera? I guess we could ask the same of the Z9. It seems there is a market in the photographic stratosphere (just not for me).

Hmm... Look at what 'this thing' is:

Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera mockups - Nikon Rumors
Ha! Ha! Photo Rumors quotes Nikon Rumors (same people) on phony photo! It must be a slow week for rumors over in Nikon land as well. First the "tip" of a second APS-C body from Pentax, now the fake Z9 from Nikon. Aren't you a stringer for those people?

Can't really tell if the latest articles are using the same or different images to the mock up but they sure look similar.

Can someone explain to me what the repeated references to the Pentax K-01 at the end of that video are actually inferring? Are they just the desperately cheap anti-Pentax shot they seemed like to me, or am I missing something?

DPR have been dead to me for a log time, and now I feel a little dirty for having watched this....
