Large news agency moves from Canon to Nikon

I'm just reading a mag that states that AFP (Agence France-Presse), a huge global French news agency started in 1835, is changing all their camera gear from Canon to Nikon D3's. Accompanying pic shows a sports photographer with his Canon something MkIII and a 600mm/f5.6 lens.

Maybe French people are going to get some Canon bargains! That's a helluva lot of money to change brands.

probably a combination of the dreaded 1D_MkIII focusing problems and Canon's very unclear service policy and denials / and maybe some special deal

I take it that the company buys their reporters and photographers their gear. I wish the transportation industry would pick up on that. A mechanic needs 20 grand worth of tools just to get a job.

im thinking its likely the latter, a good deal from Nikon sounds more than plausible and could make for an easy and maybe profit gaining switch for both the news agency as well as Nikon.
